Chapter 1657
When Love Comes Late
Holding the letter, Stella felt a wave of sadness wash over her.
Memories of her simple, joyful times with Devyn at Prosperity Group filled her mind.
If things had been different, she and Devyn might not have ended up here.
âHello!â
The sound of a clear voice snapped her out of her reverie.
She turned to see a young girl in a purple dress at the door.
The girl appeared slightly embarrassed yet offered a smile as she said, âHello.
Iâm here to interview for the assistant position.
â
She was slender, her eyes bright and welcoming, radiating friendliness and ease.
Stella felt an instant connection with her.
She tucked away the letter and dress, and then invited the girl inside.
âCome on in.
â
The girl entered confidently yet respectfully.
She greeted Stella with a bow.
âHello, my name is Doreen Cooper.
Iâve just graduated from Seamarsh University with a major in fashion design.
Iâm here to interview for the designer assistant position.
Here are some of my design sketches for you to review.
â
She presented her design drawings to Stella with both hands.
Stella examined them, her eyes widening slightly in surprise.
âs BunnyBookery
The sketches clearly showed the hallmarks of a recent graduate.
Though somewhat simplistic, they effectively incorporated current trends and showcased the designerâs original ideas.
Stella was quite taken with her.
She asked a few routine questions, and Doreenâs responses were satisfactory.
She smiled at Doreen and announced, âCongratulations! Youâre hired.
â
âSeriously?â
Doreenâs eyes widened, her hand flying to cover her mouth in disbelief.
She was practically ready to leap out of her chair.
Stella grinned and gave a confirming nod.
Doreen, trying to contain her excitement, shot a shy glance at Stella.
âI never thought Iâd make the cut so fast.
I figured Iâd be waiting around for news!â
Stellaâs smile remained warm.
âYour design skills are top-notch, even fresh out of school.
Plus, with my wedding coming up, the studioâs short-staffed.
So, if you join us, be ready to hit the ground running.
Can you handle that?â
âAbsolutely! Bring it on!â Doreen nodded vigorously, stealing glances at Stella with each nod.
Under Doreenâs admiring gaze, Stella felt a tad uneasy.
She absentmindedly touched her face, asking, âWhatâs with the stare?â
