Chapter 1677
When Love Comes Late
Finally, Benny hopped out of his cab at a club.
Flossie frowned.
She didnât exit until he entered.
Eager to follow, she was halted by a stern guard at the door of the establishment.
âIâm sorry, maâam.
I must see your membership card, please,â he demanded.
Disheartened, she considered pleading, but the guardâs icy stare squashed that idea.
Crestfallen, she turned away.
Then suddenly, she remembered Bennyâs wallet.
Recalling that Edmund had acquired a membership for Benny, she rummaged through the wallet.
There it was.
Handing the membership card over, she asked, âCan I please enter now?â
The guardâs attitude flipped entirely and he grew very respectful.
âAbsolutely, please, head right this way.
â
Guided by a waiter, Flossie entered the club, feeling a pit in her stomach.
Why was Benny sneaking off here?
Spotting Benny, she trailed after him.
She was determined.
âs BunnyBookery
Seeing him enter a VIP room, she halted in front of the door, straining to eavesdrop.
The door wasnât soundproof.
Flossie pressed her ear, catching a deep voice coming from inside.
This was Edmund.
So, Benny had come to see Edmund, but why the golf lie?
Edmundâs icy voice rang out.
âHeâs got someone snooping around.
â
Who was âheâ?
Frowning, Flossie wondered who could be poking around Edmund and Benny.
Fear crept in.
Had Benny tangled in something shady, keeping her in the dark?
Edmundâs warning echoed once more.
âIâm not concerned for your safety but our plan cannot be jeopardized.
Remember, Flossieâs my only daughter!â
Upon hearing Edmundâs words, Flossie stood frozen, her mind a whirlwind of disbelief and confusion.
At that moment, the world around her seemed to blur, drowning out any other sound or sensation.
All she could grasp was the revelation that Edmund had just uttered-that she was his daughter.
She had a sudden realization.
It all made sense now.
Edmund had been helping her since they first met for a reason.
