Chapter 1691
When Love Comes Late
âIâve slept so long.
Have you been here the whole time?â
Benny nodded.
Flossie lowered her head.
âYou should go ahead with your work.
Iâm fine now.
â
âI just want to be with you today.
â He smiled warmly.
âGet up.
Iâll take you out for dinner, and as my gift for the proposal, Iâll buy you a ring.
â
Flossieâs spirits lifted further.
The thought of the proposal made her heart flutter with happiness.
She got up, freshened up, dressed in her most beautiful dress, and left with Benny, arm in arm, to go shopping.
Together, they strolled into a jewelry store where they were immediately greeted by an enthusiastic shop assistant.
âsir, madam, are you two looking to choose a wedding ring?â
âItâs a proposal ring,â Flossie murmured, her cheeks coloring with a blush.
Upon hearing this, the shop assistant swiftly showcased a variety of diamond rings, each meticulously described.
Overwhelmed by the sparkling choices, Flossie turned to Benny, seeking his guidance.
Benny gave her hand a reassuring squeeze and encouraged, âJust choose the one y
ou like.
â
Trying on each ring, Flossie found herself unable to decide.
Just as they were discussing the rings, a sudden scream pierced the air.
Three masked men, fully armed, burst into the shop.
âDonât move! ALL of you!â one of the intruders shouted, waving his gun menacingly at the shop assistants.
âEveryone, down on the ground!â
Chaos erupted in the shop.
People huddled together, fear rippling through the crowd.
Flossie trembled uncontrollably, her hand instinctively flying to her belly to cradle her unborn child.
Bennyâs eyes narrowed.
He protectively positioned himself in front of Flossie, his voice low and serious.
âItâs a robbery.
â
âRobbery?â The word sent a fresh wave of terror through Flossie.
Sheâd never witnessed anything Like this.
Sensing her fear, Benny squeezed her hand reassuringly.
âDonât worry,â he murmured, âIâm here.
â
He scanned the three robbers.
Two ransacked the store, while the third kept a menacing watch on the customers, presumably to prevent anyone from calling the police.
âEveryone on the floor! Empty your pockets!â a harsh voice barked.
Fear paralyzed the customers, and they complied, hastily emptying their bags.
