Chapter 1692
When Love Comes Late
The red-haired robber surveyed the scene with a smirk, picking out what he deemed valuable.
He caught Bennyâs unwavering gaze and scowled.
âYou looking at something? Down on the floor!â he snarled, brandishing his gun at Benny.
Benny remained standing.
He had an old leg injury that wasnât fully healed.
He couldnât squat down.
But that wasnât the only reason.
He simply didnât take this man seriously, let alone fear him.
The red-haired man felt the contempt radiating from Benny.
He Lunged forward, anger twisting his face, and kicked Benny in the leg.
âAre you deaf? Didnât you hear me?â
The force of the blow knocked Benny off balance, sending him to one knee.
Despite the pain, he kept Flossie shielded with his body.
The red-haired manâs gaze landed on Flossie, a cruel smile twisting his lips.
âPlaying hero for the damsel in distress, huh? Good job lover boy!â
He reveled in the flash of humiliation that crossed Bennyâs face.
Turning to the crowd, he barked, âSee what happens when you disobey!â
Disdain dripping from his voice, he readied himself to kick Benny again.
Flossie noticed and her anxiety spiked, worried about Bennyâs injured leg.
Before the red-haired robber could react, she grabbed Bennyâs shoulder and fiercely interjected, âLeave him alone! I have money!â
Flinging her bag open, she emptied its contents onto the floor.
âHere!â she cried, locking eyes with the red-haired man.
âJust donât hurt him!â
The other robbers finished looting and urged the red-haired man to hurry.
âWe need to go.
Too many people around.
Cops might be on their way.
â
The red-haired man disagreed.
âNo need to worry.
These cowards wonât even think about calling the cops.
â
His gaze fixed on Flossie.
He licked his lips and remarked, âWhatâs good about this guy? Heâs a coward, hiding behind a woman when things get rough.
â
He chuckled menacingly, stooped, and inched closer to Flossie.
Instinctively, Flossie stepped back, but the man reached out to clamp her chin.
With a stern expression, Benny shoved the manâs hand away.
âHands off.
If youâve got guts, come at me.
â
The red-haired man bristled.
âYouâre a little plaything, and canât even defend yourself.
Yet you strut around like a hero in front of a woman.
What if I decide I want your woman? Can you stop me?â
He advanced provocatively.
Benny delivered a solid punch to his face.
Caught off guard, the red-haired man stumbled back a pace.
His lip curled, a hint of blood at the corner fueling his fury.
âf@ck! Teach this arrogant punk a lesson!â
