Chapter 1766
When Love Comes Late
Bennyâs expression grew even more menacing as he lowered his voice to a threatening whisper.
âAre you Gerry? Did you set all this up?â
His eyes were full of hatred, as if he wanted to tear Matthew apart.
However, no matter how hysterical Benny became, Matthew remained calm and composed.
He spoke as if nothing significant had occurred.
âItâs not me.
Iâm not the only one youâve offended.
â
âWho else could it be?â Benny demanded, his facial muscles twisting in fury, his eyes blazing red like those of a wild beast.
But the policemen gave him no time to pursue the conversation further.
They quickly intervened, dragging him away before he could say anything more.
It was the first time for Prosperity Group that a senior executive was taken by the police right in the middle of a shareholdersâ meeting.
The shareholders looked at each other, unsure of what to say to alleviate the tension.
Matthew returned to the head seat and took charge of the situation.
The shareholders eagerly tried to ingratiate themselves with him, saying, âMr.
Clark, itâs a good thing youâre back; otherwise, the company would be in disarray.
â
âDuring this difficult time, not only has Mrs.
Clark been deeply upset, but weâve all been struggling.
â
Someone quickly agreed, âAbsolutely, Mr.
Clark is much more astute.
Ever since Benny took charge, heâs grown increasingly arrogant and reckless.
Weâve been fed up with him for a while.
â
âBut heâs been too ruthless.
If we hadnât complied with him, we might not have even survived.
Frankly, we felt we had no other option but to support him.
â
âNow that Mr.
Clark has returned, Prosperity Group is finally out of danger.
â
âOkay then.
â Matthew cut them off and got straight to the point.
âDue to my injury, Benny took advantage of the situation and negatively impacted Prosperity Group.
Thank you all for your perseverance.
â
Despite his courteous tone, no one dared to reply, responding only with awkward smiles.
Matthew continued announcing his decision.
âNext, we will cancel all of Bennyâs projects.
The revenue will be accounted for; all illegal earnings will be surrendered, and the legitimate funds will be donated to charity on behalf of everyone here.
â
All the shareholders supported Matthewâs decision.
Matthew then outlined the companyâs future direction.
âGoing forward, the Prosperity Group will concentrate on two initiatives: film and television, and apparel.
Stella will continue to be the project manager, overseeing the apparel project.
â
Having led Prosperity Group for many years, Matthewâs capabilities were well recognized, and everyone was prepared to support his decisions.
If not for Bennyâs interference, these projects would have been advancing smoothly.
Only Stellaâs reaction was different.
Her eyelids twitched upon hearing the plans.
The room was too crowded for her to voice her concerns.
