Chapter 1804
When Love Comes Late
Changing the subject, she reminded Bella, âItâs time for your medicine.
You should focus on your health instead of work all the time.
â
Bella found comfort in Elizabethâs apparent concern.
As Elizabeth prepared to fetch the medicine, Bella sat on the edge of her bed and called out softly, watching Elizabethâs retreating figure, âToday, Stella told me she had a car accident and lost part of her memory.
I had an accident too.
Do you think itâs possible I lost some of my memory? That could explain the odd flashbacks Iâve been having.
â
Elizabeth, visibly rattled but trying to maintain composure, reassured her, âThatâs highly unlikely.
Remember, the doctor attributed those strange visions to your stressful workload.
â
âReally?â Bella murmured, still uncertain.
âAbsolutely.
My father has been by your side throughout.
He would have noticed if youâd lost any memories,â Elizabeth reassured her.
Convinced by Elizabethâs words, Bella relaxed.
Elizabeth breathed a sigh of relief, secretly glad she had intercepted in time.
She was certain Stella was up to something, but thankfully she had returned in time to prevent any potential mishaps.
Elizabeth then cautioned, âI think your headaches are just from overthinking.
If you donât ease your mind, your symptoms might worsen.
Try to rest and not dwell on things too much.
â
With that, she dispensed two additional pills.
Elizabeth handed Bella the pills and water.
Bella observed the quantity and remarked casually, âThe dose seems much higher than before.
â
âThe doctor suggested increasing the dosage if your headaches get worse,â Elizabeth explained calmly.
Trusting the doctorâs advice, Bella took the medication without hesitation.
Relieved, Elizabeth took the empty glass from Bella and helped her lie down.
Seizing the moment, Elizabeth broached the subject again.
âThe climate in Seamarsh might be worsening your condition.
It could be better for you to return to Dorburn where Dad and your doctor can look after you more closely.
â
Bella responded noncommittally, âIâll consider it.
Iâll return if I start feeling worse.
â
Her reluctance to leave was palpable, though she couldnât pinpoint why.
Elizabeth, sensing her hesitance, decided not to push further for now.
She dimmed the lights and added with concern, âI really think you should avoid seeing Stella.
It seems your health declines after each meeting.
She might not be good for you.
â
As the medication took effect, Bellaâs head began to feel heavy.
âMaybe,â she murmured before drifting into sleep.
Once Bellaâs breathing deepened, Elizabeth quietly exited the room.
Outside, her expression turned serious.
She pulled out her phone and dialed Kristian.
