Chapter 1807
When Love Comes Late
Caught off guard, Stella barely had time to respond before Bella pressed on, âTomorrow is the deadline.
If you finish it, send it to her as soon as possible.
â
Stella, taken aback, responded in surprise, âTomorrow? Thatâs very sudden, isnât it?â
Bellaâs tone carried a hint of displeasure.
âHavenât you finished yet? Margery informed me three days ago, and I had Elizabeth relay this to you.
Didnât you prepare?â
Stella felt bewildered; she hadnât received any such message.
Bellaâs voice grew stern.
âAs a designer, you should understand how crucial punctuality is to our clients.
It impacts our brandâs reputation.
Must I really explain something so basic?â
Stella opened her mouth to defend herself, but hesitated, knowing it might be futile to argue that she hadnât been informed.
The priority was to maintain Margeyâs trust; failing to fulfill this order could jeopardize her credibility and future opportunities.
âIâll ensure itâs done by tomorrow,â Stella assured her firmly.
After Stella ended the call, concern etched her face.
With only one day left, her promise to Bella felt daunting.
âWhat did Bella say on the phone?â Matthew asked, sensing her anxiety, and took her hand.
Stella recounted her conversation with Bella, her worry apparent.
âThe custom dress for Margery is ready, but it still needs specific hand embroidery.
The
embroiderer, Rylie McCoy, who can do it has taken leave for three days, so weâre behind schedule.
â
Matthew frowned.
âCanât someone else from the clothing department take over?â
Stella shook her head.
âItâs not so simple.
â
She sighed.
âMargery is particularly discerning when it comes to embroidery.
For this gown, she specified a complex technique that involves numerous styles for just a small pattern.
Itâs not something that can be completed quickly.
Additionally, Rylie has a unique skill set that isnât easily replicated.
â
Stella felt a wave of despair.
She knew the importance of handling this situation carefully.
Yet, despite considering everyone she knew, she couldnât identify a suitable replacement.
Seeing her dejection, Matthew took a moment to think and then reassured her, âDonât worry.
Letâs think of alternative solutions.
Iâll also speak with Fernando to see if he can recommend someone else.
â
Stella rushed to find Angel Kelly, the head of the clothing department, as soon as she arrived at the company.
After hearing Stellaâs urgent request, Angel hesitated, and then said, âFinding someone to replace Rylie right away wonât be easy.
â
Stella, feeling anxious, pleaded, âThis project is really pressing.
Canât we ask her to come back soon?â
Angel shook her head sadly, explaining, âSheâs gone back to her hometown for a wedding.
Itâs far from Seamarsh, so even if she could return quickly, it wouldnât be in time.
â
