Chapter 1822
When Love Comes Late
Suddenly, a thought struck her.
Was Stella attempting to obtain Bellaâs hair?
Of course! That explained Stellaâs eagerness to gift Bella the hairpin.
Panic set in, and Elizabeth mulled over her next move.
She decided to seek advice from Kristian.
Rising quickly, she declared, âIâll go grab the coffee.
â
She hastened forward, but as she rounded the corner, she collided with a waitress coming the other way.
Elizabethâs expression soured as she snapped, âDidnât you see me standing here?â
The waitress stammered out apologies repeatedly.
Although seething with irritation, Elizabeth had no time to Linger on the mishap.
She scowled and barked, âJust get the hell out of my face, you fool!â
âThank youâ¦â The waitress murmured her thanks and turned to leave.
As Elizabeth reached for her phone, she noticed the waitressâs hair.
It was remarkably similar to Bellaâs in length and color.
âWait a minute,â she called the waitress back.
âWhatâs wrong?â The waitress looked apprehensive, fearing further reprimand.
Elizabeth gestured toward her hair and offered, âIâll pay you.
Could you give me a few strands of your hair?â
Elizabeth returned to their table, holding three cups of coffee.
She fixed her gaze on Stella for a moment, and then shifted her attention to Stellaâs bag.
If her deduction was correct, Stella had surreptitiously placed Bellaâs hair in there.
Elizabeth couldnât fathom how Stella had come to suspect Bellaâs true identity as her mother, but she was determined to thwart any attempt at a paternity test using Bellaâs hair.
Every aspect of Bellaâs existence was exclusively Elizabethâs; she would not tolerate anyone encroaching upon it, least of all Stella.
If Stella succeeded, Elizabethâs efforts thus far would be rendered futile.
With these thoughts, Elizabethâs eyes darkened with resolve.
Stella remained oblivious to Elizabethâs growing hostility.
With Bellaâs hair finally secured, her heart raced with anticipation.
She desperately sought an excuse to depart.
Stella and Elizabeth harbored their own contemplations, while Bella remained oblivious.
