Chapter 1851
When Love Comes Late
As she prepared to set down the document, a particular detail caught her eye, the name of the family doctor, Tyron Harvey, was visible.
A frown creased Bellaâs forehead as she read the message, noting that it included the word âmedicine.
â
Just as she was about to examine the message more closely, Elizabeth entered the room.
âMom?â Elizabethâs expression shifted to one of surprise and astonishment.
Bellaâs heart skipped a beat, and she quickly averted her gaze, feeling a rush of emotions.
Elizabeth rushed forward, her voice tinged with anxiety.
âWhat brings you here all of a sudden?â
Bella took a moment to compose herself, clutching the document tightly.
âI needed to find some papers urgently.
I knocked, but you didnât answer, so I decided to come in and look for them.
â
Elizabeth glanced at the document without saying anything.
Struggling to ease the tension, Bella suggested, âItâs getting late.
You should probably get some rest.
â
With that, she left the room, holding the document in her hand.
Leaning against the door in the study, Bella couldnât shake off the message she had read on Elizabethâs phone, her hands trembling with disbelief.
Bella tried to reassure herself, âElizabeth must have had questions for the doctor about the medication.
No need to jump to conclusions.
â
She persistently devised rationales to defend Elizabeth.
âIâve nurtured Elizabeth.
Doubt has no place.
.
â
The next day, Stella, concerned about Bella, found an excuse to visit her in the afternoon.
Stella had figured Elizabeth might be out or holed up in her room, but there she was, standing right in front of her.
Elizabethâs expression turned guarded immediately.
She scrunched up her face and asked, âWhatâs up? Why are you here?â
Stella, keeping her cool, used the excuse she had ready.
âBella mentioned introducing me to some clients.
I need their info.
â
Elizabethâs mood darkened.
She scoffed, âSo, you need help getting clients? Can you even handle projects on your own? And with my mom not feeling well and not wanting to see anyone, maybe you should figure things out solo.
â
As Elizabeth moved to close the door, Stella halted her with a firm gesture.
Elizabethâs tone turned chilly.
âThis is my place.
You gonna make a scene?â
Stella furrowed her brows, puzzled.
âWhy do you keep blocking me from seeing Bella? Whatâs got you so worked up?â
Elizabethâs initial fluster faded, replaced by a composed demeanor.
She asserted confidently, âCanât you see why? I just canât stand you.
Whatâs the problem?â
