Chapter 1855
When Love Comes Late
Kristian tore his gaze away from Stella and approached Bella affectionately.
Taking her hand in his, he spoke softly.
âWeâve been apart for too long.
Iâve missed you terribly.
And Elizabeth mentioned your health concerns.
Iâm genuinely worried about you.
â
Bellaâs expression soured at his presence.
âWhereâs the doctor?â
Kristian blinked, his tone gentle as he explained, âIâve arranged for him to stay at the hotel.
Itâs late, and he needs rest.
Iâll have him come for an examination tomorrow.
â
Bella acquiesced, dismissing her health issues as trivial.
âItâs nothing serious.
You didnât need to go through all this trouble.
â
Kristianâs demeanor turned serious.
âYour well-being is my priority.
â
Bellaâs resolve softened under his earnest gaze.
After their exchange, Kristian turned his attention to Stella, acknowledging her unexpected presence.
âI didnât anticipate guests at home today.
Who isâ¦â
Bella intervened, introducing Stella to Kristian.
âThis is Stella.
Iâve mentioned her before; sheâs the successor of my studio.
â
Turning to Stella, she said, âStella, this is Kristian, my husband.
â
Kristian greeted Stella graciously, âAh, so youâre Stella.
Iâve heard a lot about you.
Youâre quite promising for your age.
â
Stella responded with equal politeness, âThank you.
Itâs a pleasure to meet you.
â
Observing their courteous exchange, Elizabeth grew increasingly impatient.
Stepping between Bella and Kristian, she grasped their hands, adopting a childish demeanor.
âI waited forever to pick Dad and Tyron up from the airport.
Iâm starving.
Whatâs for dinner?â
Sensing Elizabethâs not-so-subtle hint to leave, Stella gracefully accepted the cue.
She nodded subtly and remarked, âItâs getting late.
I should head home now.
â
Bella offered to accompany her, but Stella declined with a smile.
âNo, thank you.
Matthew is waiting for me outside.
I can manage on my own.
â
Elizabethâs irritation was palpable, her nails digging into her flesh.
Bella conceded, âVery well, then.
I wonât keep you any longer.
â
Stella bid Bella and Kristian farewell before turning and exiting the house.
Elizabethâs displeasure was palpable as she voiced her frustration.
âWhat was that about? She bid farewell to you both and ignored me completely? How rude!â
Unfazed by Elizabethâs outburst, Bella remained silent, withdrawing her hand and retreating to her room as soon as Stella left.
Dissatisfied with Bellaâs reaction, Elizabeth was about to speak up when Kristian gestured for her to calm down.
Elizabeth begrudgingly subdued her anger despite her frustration, directing her blame toward Stella.
Unaware of Elizabethâs thoughts, Stella exited the house to find Matthewâs car parked across the road.
