Chapter 1858
When Love Comes Late
Elizabethâs nerves frayed with worry.
âWhat if she overheard everything?â
Kristian pursed his lips and said nothing, but his face was full of concern.
Meanwhile, Bella returned to her room and sat on the edge of her bed, her mind racing with troubling thoughts.
The synchronized responses of Elizabeth and Kristian had set off alarm bells in her mind.
Elizabeth wasnât good at lying, and her expression had been very strange.
It seemed like they were discussing something they didnât want her to know.
So, was what Kristian just said true, or was he trying to cover up for Elizabeth?
If Elizabeth had indeed drugged her, did Kristian know about it?
What was his role in all of this? Was he the mastermind, or was he just trying to protect Elizabeth?
Elizabeth and Kristian were her closest and most trusted people.
She had always trusted them implicitly.
But now, it was possible that they were trying to hurt her, even kill her.
The thought made Bella shiver.
For the first time, she doubted the people closest to her.
The next day, the family doctor, Tyron, arrived with his medical equipment to examine Bella.

After the check-up, Kristian feigned concern and inquired about Bellaâs condition.
Sensing an opportunity to collude, Tyron responded, âBella is in good health.
However, she must continue taking her medication to prevent a relapse of her illness.
â
Bella detected no hint of deceit in his serious tone as he spoke.
Tentatively, she voiced her concerns.
âBut the increased dosage of my medication didnât seem to work well.
At times, I even felt my emotions were spiraling out of control.
What could be the reason?â
She watched Tyronâs expression carefully for any signs of deception.
Anticipating Bellaâs skepticism, Tyron maintained his composure and continued to lie, âBella, itâs just that youâre overly anxious and dwelling too much on many things.
If you feel the previous medication was ineffective, I can prescribe an alternative.
â
His expression remained unchanged.
Bella couldnât help but wonder if Tyron was simply a skilled actor or if there was genuinely
nothing suspicious about him.
After a momentâs contemplation, she questioned, âIs there no possibility of a cure?â
Kristian and Elizabeth exchanged a glance, surprised by Bellaâs sudden barrage of questions.
In the past, she had always blindly followed Tyronâs instructions.
Furrowing their brows, they realized Bellaâs newfound skepticism.
Elizabeth grew anxious, fearing that Tyron might struggle to handle Bellaâs probing.
She hastily proposed a solution.
âHow about this? Since Mom doesnât plan on returning to Dorburn anytime soon, we can have Tyron stay here to monitor your condition closely and devise a suitable treatment plan.
Dad and I canât bear to see you suffer from illness.
â
Kristian chimed in, âTyron traveled all this way from Dorburn; surely he can diagnose the problem effectively.
With him here, weâll be equipped to handle any unforeseen circumstances.
