Chapter 1872
When Love Comes Late
She didnât turn on the light and lay prone on the bed, her thoughts swirling with the events of the day.
Her disdain for Stella and Bella deepened with each passing moment.
How could such a coincidence happen?
Just as she was discussing their plan with Tyron, Stella and Bella had returned unexpectedly.
They had seen everything.
Was this a trap?
Was going out just a ruse by Bella?
Elizabeth was convinced it had been Stellaâs idea all along.
With each thought, her anger surged.
âIf I returned to Dorburn just like this, Stella would only grow more smug.
Damn it!â Elizabeth cursed.
She should have been more careful.
In a fit of anger, she threw a hard punch onto the bed, only to exacerbate her wounds.
She winced in pain.
Suddenly, the door swung open and the light flickered on.
She squinted slightly to adjust to the sudden brightness.
She thought Bellaâs heart had softened, but her hope faded as she saw Kristian standing at the door instead.
Her eyes darkened.
Kristian entered with a medical kit in hand.
He looked down at her with a feigned expression of sympathy.
âLook at you.
What a state youâve put yourself in.
â
He approached Elizabeth, intending to tend to her wounds, but before he could touch her, she forcefully slapped his hand away.
Elizabeth glared at him furiously.
âWhy didnât you help me earlier? Whatâs the point of pretending to be good now?â
Remembering how Kristian had not only failed to defend her but had also attacked her earlier, Elizabethâs anger intensified.
âYou must be very pleased to see me like this,â she seethed.
With a fierce stare, she threatened him, âIf Iâm doomed, do you really think you can live a peaceful life? Let me tell you, donât get too comfortable.
Weâre in this together.
If I canât escape this situation, you wonât be able to either!â
When Kristian heard Elizabethâs hysterical threat, a trace of malice flashed through his eyes.
But he had not fully gained Bellaâs trust yet, so he couldnât break his cooperation with Elizabeth.
Thinking of this, he did not lose his temper.
Instead, he suppressed the unhappiness in his heart, smiled hypocritically, and said, âHey, why are you so angry? We have been on the same side for a long time.
How can I refuse to help you? But you have seen what happened earlier.
Bella firmly believed that you were the one who drugged her.
If I am also dragged into this, our plan over the years will be over.
â
Elizabeth didnât say anything, but she obviously acquiesced in his words.
The expression on her face softened a lot.
Upon seeing this, Kristian continued to comfort her, âBella is very angry now.
And whenever she sees you, she will inevitably remember this matter.
So, why donât you listen to her and go back to Dorburn for the time being?â
After he said this, he saw that Elizabeth was about to lose her temper again.
So, he hurriedly added, âDonât worry.
I know it will be a sacrifice for you, but I wonât let your effort be in vain.
While you are away, Iâll stay with her and persuade her.
After she calms down, maybe she will forget about it.
â
