Chapter 1876
When Love Comes Late
âGood morning, Andrew,â she greeted.
âAre you here to discuss joining the film crew with me? Iâm afraid we have to postpone it a bit.
I have some matters to attend to recentlyâ¦â
But Andrew merely gave her a cold stare.
Bellaâs expression darkened, and she spoke icily.
âWho allowed her to come out?â
The smile vanished from Elizabethâs face as she approached Bella, her tone turning pleading.
âMom, thereâs been a misunderstanding.
Stella framed me!â
Elizabethâs tone grew heated after bringing up Stellaâs name.
âCanât you see that? Yesterday, she attempted to sow division between us.
Remember, weâre family.
Donât let others deceive you.
â
Bella looked at her with a blank expression.
Elizabeth bit her lip and whispered, âPlus, Iâve secured a job in Seamarsh.
Iâve already signed a contract with Andrew, so I must keep my word.
I canât leave.
â
Bella remained unmoved by her pleading, her demeanor cold and resolute.
âIâve finalized an arrangement with Andrew.
Heâll arrange for someone else to take your place.
Your flight departs this afternoon, and youâll be picked up upon arrival in Dorburn,â she stated firmly.
âAre you truly set on sending me away?â Elizabeth asked, disbelief coloring her tone.
Sensing the impasse in the atmosphere, Andrew rose from his seat and spoke.
âThe meal was excellent, Bella.
Thank you for your hospitality.
Iâm glad to see youâre doing well.
Since thereâs nothing more, IâIl bid you farewell.
â
Andrew represented Elizabethâs last hope.
Seeing him about to depart, she felt a surge of panic.
She halted him, urgently pleading, âDonât leave.
Didnât you promise to speak on my behalf?â
âEnough Elizabeth! The most regrettable part of my life is knowing you.
Loving you is the biggest mistake Iâve ever made.
â
Andrew spoke coldly, and then left without giving Elizabeth another glance.
Stunned, Elizabeth stood motionless.
She had heard no romantic affairs about Andrew since their separation, leading her to believe he still held feelings for her.
This belief made her think he would always support her, no matter the circumstances.
Yet, his parting words had been harsh, declaring loving her was the biggest mistake he had made.
Turning to Bella for any sign of empathy, Elizabeth found only indifference.
Feeling betrayed and abandoned by all her closest ones, her heart sank.
After Andrewâs departure, Bella stood, her words sharp.
âYou donât need others to speak for you.
I wish what I saw yesterday was just a dream.
If you werenât my biological daughter, I wouldâve called the police.
â
Elizabeth faced Bella and Kristian, her tone dripping with sarcasm.
âBiological daughter?â She scoffed.
âHave you ever truly cared about me? Do you even know what I endured as a child? You only care about your designs, your career, your honor-they are your true daughtersââ
She couldnât finish; Bella slapped her, trembling with anger.
