Chapter 1889
When Love Comes Late
Stella and Matthew looked at each other.
Then, Stella asked worriedly, âDid she say why she didnât want to eat?â
Erin shook her head.
âShe didnât say anything.
But she doesnât look well.
Maybe she is not used to staying here.
â
Stella was even more worried.
She turned to Matthew and said, âIâll go upstairs to check on her.
â
Matthew nodded in agreement.
Stella went upstairs and knocked on the door of Lindsayâs room.
Lindsay heard the knock.
She fixed her hair and stood up to open the door.
But when she saw Stella standing outside the door alone, she felt a sense of loss.
Even so, she didnât show anything unusual on her face.
She smiled and asked, âWhy are you back so early? I thought you would stay long at Bellaâs.
â
âBella has not been feeling well recently, so we have to leave early,â
Stella answered.
After explaining, she was about to ask Lindsay why she skipped dinner.
But before Stella could open her mouth, she saw Lindsay quietly hiding her injured arm behind her back.
When Stella noticed that Lindsay had removed the gauze, she couldnât help asking, âAre you going to apply medicine and change the dressing?â
Lindsay nodded.
Ever since the doctor bandaged Lindsayâs wound, Stella didnât know how it was now.
She said worriedly, âI donât think itâs convenient for you to do it on your own.
Let me help you.
â
âThank you, but itâs okay.
I can do it,â Lindsay refused, taking a step back.
However, Stella insisted, ignoring her refusal.
âI insist.
Itâs just applying medicine.
I can do it.
Donât worry.
â
After saying this, she gently grabbed Lindsayâs wrist.
Although mentally prepared, she still couldnât help gasping when she saw Lindsayâs wound.
The wound was not deep, but it was very long.
It hadnât scabbed yet, and the skin around it was still red.
She could imagine the pain.
At the sight of this, Stella felt even guiltier toward Lindsay.
She was speechless for a while and didnât know what to do.
âIâd better do it myself,â Lindsay said when she noticed Stellaâs reaction.
She slowly withdrew her hand.
But Stella grabbed it again and pulled her into the room.
âYou got injured because you wanted to save me.
I have the responsibility to take care of you.
â
Then, Stella asked Lindsay to sit on the chair.
She turned around, opened the medical kit, and took a cotton swab.
She dipped it in the medicine and applied it to Lindsayâs wound.
While doing it, she said, âIf you feel pain, tell me.
Iâll try to be as gentle as possible.
â
