Chapter 1890
When Love Comes Late
Lindsay responded with a nod.
Stella suddenly remembered the untouched dishes.
She said, âWhy didnât you have dinner tonight? Didnât you like the food cooked by Erin? What do you want to eat? Tell me.
Iâll cook it for you.
â
Lindsay shook her head.
âItâs not because of Erin.
I just have no appetite.
â
âWhatâs wrong? Does the wound hurt so much that you canât eat?â
âs BunnyBookery
âNo,â Lindsay said in a low voice.
Stellaâs hands didnât stop moving, but she noticed the disappointment in Lindsayâs words.
She raised her head and was about to ask more.
But she was stunned when she saw the tears in Lindsayâs eyes.
When she came to her senses, Stella immediately stopped what she was doing and asked in a panic, âIâm sorry.
Did I hurt you?â
As soon as she said this, tears streamed down Lindsayâs face, making Stella panic even more.
Lindsay wiped the tears off her face and forced a smile.
âNo, itâs not it.
Donât mind me.
Iâm just too weak.
â
Stella sat next to Lindsay and asked in a low voice, âWhatâs wrong? Is there anything that makes you unhappy?â
âNo.
Iâve actually been very happy these days.
Iâve been abroad for a long time, and no one has cared about me like this.
Iâm just so moved that I canât control my emotions.
â
Stella breathed a sigh of relief when she heard this.
She sighed solemnly and said, âI understand how you feel.
â
Stella picked up the cotton swab again and continued applying medicine to Lindsayâs wound, recounting her past.
âI used to study abroad alone.
My grandfather was old, and I didnât want him to worry about me.
So, I only told him the good things and hid the bad ones.
At that time, I didnât have many friends, either.
There was almost no entertainment.
I could only use my studies to numb myself every day.
Such a life was really hard and lonely.
â
Because of the robbery incident, Stella grew closer to Lindsay.
Noticing Lindsayâs sorrow, Stella wanted to offer some comfort.
After a long conversation and bandaging her wound, Stella reassured Lindsay, âDonât worry too much.
Now that youâre back in Seamarsh, you have family and friends nearby.
If you ever find yourself in trouble, you can always ask me and Matthew for help.
â
âOkay, I will,â Lindsay replied, managing a smile through her tears.
Stella handed her some tissues.
âHere, wipe your eyes.
Theyâre quite swollen.
You donât want them looking rough tomorrow.
â
Lindsay took the tissues and dabbed at her eyes.
âGrandma was right about you.
Youâre truly kind.
She always said I should spend more time with you.
Iâve decided to take her advice.
I hope you wonât mind.
â
With a warm smile, Stella responded, âOf course not.
I donât have many friends here in Seamarsh.
It would be nice to have someone to talk and shop with.
â
Lindsay seemed less down than she was earlier.
Glancing at her watch, Stella said, âYou havenât eaten yet.
Are you hungry? Maybe we could grab something to eat downstairs? Even if youâre not feeling hungry, you shouldnât skip meals.
Itâs not good for your health.
â
