Chapter 1892
When Love Comes Late
Stella remembered she didnât lock the door when she came in.
Worried that Lindsay would suddenly enter, she hurriedly patted Matthewâs hand and said in a low voice, âPut me down.
â
Matthew reluctantly put her down.
But since he was interrupted, his face turned gloomy.
When Stella saw this, she ki*sed his cheek and coaxed him with a smile, âHey, donât be upset, okay? Maybe Lindsay has something important to say.
â
After she said this, she saw that Matthewâs expression softened.
Stella straightened her clothes and fixed her hair.
Then, she went to open the door.
Lindsay, in her camisole nightgown, stood outside the door with an embarrassed expression.
She looked at Stella and asked shyly, âAm I disturbing you?â
Stella was stunned for a moment.
Then, she said, âItâs okay.
What brings you here at this time? Is something wrong?â
Lindsay shook her head.
âMy wound suddenly hurt.
I went downstairs to ask for some painkillers from Erin, but I couldnât find her.
So, I came here to find you.
â
âOh, Iâm sorry.
I forgot to tell you that Erin went back home,â Stella said apologetically.
Matthew didnât like having outsiders in their home, so Erin usually came in the daytime and left in the evening after doing the household chores.
âOh, I see.
No wonder I couldnât find her,â Lindsay said, finally understanding the situation.
Stella looked at her wounded arm worriedly.
âIâll go downstairs and get painkillers for you.
â
Lindsay hurriedly waved her hand.
âOh, no, donât bother.
Just tell me where they are.
I can get them myself.
Besides, itâs already late, and you havenât washed up yet.
Donât worry about me.
Iâll just take the medicine and go to bed.
â
Since Lindsay firmly refused, Stella didnât insist anymore.
She told Lindsay where the painkillers were and said concernedly, âBut if you still feel uncomfortable after taking the medicine, tell me, okay?â
âI will,â Lindsay replied meekly.
But she had been secretly looking in the room several times.
It was just that she failed to see what she wanted.
She added absentmindedly, âI wonât bother you unless necessary.
I donât want to cause so much trouble.
I will try to keep a low profile as a third wheel.
â
After saying this, she winked at Stella, turned around, and trotted away.
Stella could not help laughing at Lindsayâs teasing expression.
She closed the door and walked back in.
Matthew stood beside her.
He looked at her with darkened eyes and said, with a hint of displeasure in his voice, âFinally finished talking?â
Stella smiled helplessly.
âWell, you heard it too.
It was really something important.
â
Matthew didnât care much about it.
He just said casually, âLet me help you shower.
â
He was about to carry Stella to the bathroom again, but she stopped him.
Actually, Lindsayâs expression just now made her feel awkward.
It spoiled her mood.
She smiled and said, âI need to accompany Bella to the hospital tomorrow.
Letâs sleep early tonight.
â
