Chapter 1900
When Love Comes Late
Clint had just been brought out of the resuscitation room, with the butler attending to him.
Seeing Clint unconscious in the bed, Stella turned to the butler with concern and asked, âWhat happened? Why did Grandpa suddenly collapse?â
Her eyes reflected deep worry.
The butler shook his head, looking troubled.
âEver since the wedding incident, his mental state has declined, and his appetite has worsened.
Considering his existing illness, it was just too much for him to handle.
â
Stella frowned and questioned, âWhy didnât you inform me that he wasnât feeling well?â
The butler sighed.
âHe always mentioned how busy you are with work.
He didnât want to trouble you with his issues and feared youâd worry, so he kept pushing through.
I wouldnât have called if I had any other options.
â
Upon hearing this, Stella tightly held Clintâs hand, feeling a wave of sadness.
How could she have forgotten that Grandpa always worried about her and rarely shared his troubles, preferring to handle them on his own?
Only now did Stella notice how much weight her grandfather had lost and how much older he looked since they last met at the wedding.
Lowering her eyes in guilt, Stella said, âItâs all my fault.
Iâve been so busy lately that I didnât notice any changes in Grandpa.
â
If she had paid more attention, she would have noticed his condition even without him telling her.
The butler consoled, âHe hid it from you because he didnât want you to blame yourself.
Youâve had so much going on lately.
Heâs stable now, so thereâs no need to worry.
â
Stella nodded, her voice choked with sobs.
Since her marriage, Stella had had less time for Clint.
Even when he fainted, she couldnât be there right away.
Reflecting on this made Stella feel even worse.
That night, Stella remained by Clintâs side constantly.
During this period, she received a message from Matthew.
Matthewâs message read, âThe bidding was successful, but I have a party this evening and canât get away.
Iâll come to Bysea as soon as I finish my work.
â
Glancing at her watch, Stella realized it might be very late by the time he finished.
She texted back, âGet some rest.
Donât come over.
Grandpaâs condition is stable, and with Fernando here, everything is under control.
â
However, he didnât respond.
Stella assumed he might not have time to check his phone during the party.
After a while, she set it aside.
Clint remained unconscious until midnight.
Stella remained alert; her thoughts focused on him.
She checked his IV drip attentively.
After the nurse changed the medication, Stella was about to nap when her phone rang.
It was Miley calling.
