Chapter 1926
When Love Comes Late
Kristian caught off guard, replied impulsively, âWe have another daughter.
â
As soon as the words left his mouth, he saw Bellaâs expression darken ominously.
âAnother daughter?â Bellaâs voice was low and tinged with disbelief.
âIs someone who drugged me and tried to destabilize my mind still considered my daughter?â
Kristian instantly regretted his remark, realizing too late the weight of his words.
Bella had long struggled to put aside the painful memories of what Elizabeth had done.
Bringing it up now undoubtedly reopened old wounds.
Seeing Bellaâs visible anger, Kristian softened his expression, attempting to defuse the situation.
âI didnât mean to imply anything negative.
Stella is exceptionally talented and Iâm confident she will manage the studio well.
I fully support your decision to pass on your legacy to her, though she is still quite young and inexperienced.
â
Bella countered, âManaging the studio is precisely the experience she needs.
Thereâs no point in delaying her development under the guise of training.
â
Kristian felt a knot tighten in his throat at her resolve.
A cold flash crossed his eyes, though he held back any further objections.
The more he argued, the more likely he was to slip up and raise Bellaâs suspicions.
Yet, he was determined not to let all the property transfer to Stella without resistance.
He silently pondered his next move.
Meanwhile, Bella turned to Stella, seeking her input.
âWhat do you think? Donât worry about your existing studio.
Our business models are similar, so it will be easy for you to get the hang of things.
If managing both is too much, consider merging them.
My studio is well-established, and you can learn a lot from it.
â
Stella hesitated, her insecurity evident.
âIâm inexperienced.
Iâm worried I might not meet your expectationsâ¦â
As she spoke, Matthew reached out and took her hand, giving her an encouraging smile.
âIf Bella believes in you enough to entrust you with this responsibility, it means she has faith in your abilities.
Donât let her down.
â
Bella gave a solemn nod in agreement.
Bolstered by Bellaâs confidence and Matthewâs support, Stella found her resolve.
âI accept.
I will do my utmost to excel in this role.
I hope youâll guide me along the way.
â
After dinner, they bid each other farewell at the restaurant.
Stella and Bella had arranged to meet again the next day.
Then, she and Matthew dropped Clint off to rest.
Later, as they drove back to Prosper Bay, Stella couldnât contain her curiosity.
âWhy did you suddenly urge me to promise Bella Iâd take over her studio?â
Matthew glanced at her briefly before responding, âIt will give you more time to develop your relationship with Bella.
Since sheâs announced your relationship with her publicly, the outcome will be the same whether you agree or not.
Why disappoint her?â
While his logic was sound, Stella sensed that Matthew was withholding something.
She looked into his eyes intently and probed, âIs that really the only reason?â
Matthew offered a small smile.
âWhat else could there be?â
