Chapter 1982
When Love Comes Late
Matthew nodded slightly.
âExactly.
And the only person who could access Bellaâ¦â
He left the sentence unfinished, but Stella understood his implication.
She hesitated for a moment before suggesting another possibility.
âBut could Elizabeth have done it? After all, she even drugged her mother.
â
Stella was very cautious.
She didnât want to overlook any possibilities or wrongly accuse anyone.
Matthew spoke in a hushed tone.
âEven so, Kristian remains a suspect, or they could be working together, covering for each other.
But Elizabeth was exposed in the end, so Kristian has distanced himself from her for now.
â
Stella admitted that Matthewâs reasoning made sense and fell silent.
She was worried about Bellaâs safety if Kristian was indeed involved.
âIâm concerned about my mom,â Stella confessed anxiously.
âIf Kristian is capable of what we suspect, he might pose a threat to her.
Shouldnât we bring her to stay with us?â
Matthew shook his head.
âNo, we shouldnât.
Right now, the safest place for her is where she already is.
Besides, any sudden change could raise Kristianâs suspicions.
â
Stella bit her lip, still uneasy.
âButâ¦â
Matthew reassured her, âBella has been with him for a long time and remains unharmed.
That suggests he wonât take any action at the moment.
My people are monitoring him closely.
If we move her now, it might provoke Kristian and complicate matters further.
â
Stella reluctantly agreed with Matthewâs decision, nodding slowly.
âAlright, Iâll trust your judgment,â
she said softly.
Matthew offered her reassurance, though he couldnât shake his own unease.
Kristian had always been cautious, as evidenced by Nevilleâs prolonged investigation, which yielded no useful information.
Continuing to investigate would not be easy.
That night, Kristian sat alone in his study.
His usually composed demeanor now twisted with dark intensity as he stared at the photo in his wallet.
His expression turned ruthless, reflecting his inner turmoil.
The photo had been moved, and only Bella could have done it.
Kristian remained silent for a moment before decisively making a phone call.
âPrepare a private plane to Dorburn.
There will be only two passengers.
â
With gritted teeth, he emphasized, âEnsure everything is arranged properly.
â
Stella, anxious about Kristian noticing anything, frequently visited Bella for a few days under the guise of taking over work.
Kristian remained as considerate as ever, showing no signs of suspicion.
However, Stella, still wary of her earlier doubts, stayed cautious.
