Chapter 1987
When Love Comes Late
In a tone filled with worry, he added, âThe individual I arranged for their pickup in Dorburn hasnât seen them either.
Is something amiss?â
Before Matthew could respond to Kristianâs question, his office phone rang.
After a brief internal call, he switched his cell phone to speaker mode and set it on the table.
Fernando entered, looking distressed, and announced, âMr.
Clark, thereâs troubling news.
Mrs.
Clarkâs plane has crashed into the ocean for reasons unknown.
Theyâre missing now!â
Matthew stood abruptly, the chair scraping the floor loudly.
He asked urgently, âCrashed into the sea? Which part of the sea? Why are you still here? Organize a search team i
mmediately!â
He then put his cell phone near his ear again.
Kristian, sounding anxious, inquired, âA crash into the sea? Is he referring to Bella and Stellaâs plane?â
âYes,â Matthew replied tersely, his voice heavy with concern.
Kristian reacted with immediate panic.
âHow could this happen? Iâm heading back right now and will catch the first flight available!â

She appeared alarmed.
Matthew scowled and demanded, âWhat are you doing here?â

I overheard the conversation unintentionally.
Stellaâs plane⦠it fell into the sea.
Sheâs alright, isnât she?â
âs BunnyBookery
Lindsay asked anxiously.
With a stern look, Matthew cautioned her, âRegardless of what youâve heard, do not inform Grandpa and Grandma.
â
âI assure you, I wonât say a word,â Lindsay responded hastily, adding, âThey wouldnât withstand such a tragedy.
Iâll keep it to myself.
Despite her reassurances, she felt a wave of relief in her heart.
Stellaâs plane had plummeted into the sea.
Surely, she couldnât have survived such a fate.
If Stella were gone forever, Matthew would eventually gravitate toward her due to her connections with Waldo and Lucia.
The more Lindsay pondered, the greater her excitement grew.
It seemed even fate was on her side.
Matthew, without sparing her a glance, departed.
He, along with Fernando, rushed to the crash site, where the search and rescue team was already in action.
The vastness of the sea, however, made their efforts seem futile.
