Chapter 2021
When Love Comes Late
Matthew had explicitly instructed everyone involved to maintain silence about the matter.
Then, how did the news get out?
As he pondered potential leaks, Stella, less burdened by these thoughts, grasped his hand reassuringly.
âIâll go home with you.
It might comfort Lucia to see me,â she suggested, hope flickering in her voice.
However, her gaze drifted toward Bellaâs ward, her concern evident.
Bella, still unconscious, was unaware of the turmoil around her, and the thought of her waking up to solitude weighed on Stella.
Sensing her conflict, Matthew squeezed her hand gently.
âItâs okay.
Stay here with Bella.
Iâll head back and see whatâs happening.
Perhaps Iâm wrong.
Grandma rarely uses the internet or talks to outsiders; she might not know anything.
â
Stella hesitated, and then nodded in agreement.
âIf Lucia really did faint because of me, call me immediately.
Iâll talk to her and reassure her that Iâm safe.
â
Matthew gave a slight nod, affirming their plan.
âOkay!â
Stella, considering the broader implications, suggested, âWhy donât we just make a public announcement now? Kristian is arrested, and both Bella and I are safe.
Thereâs no need to keep the truth from the public anymore.
We can put an end to all the speculation.
â
Her mind drifted to Miley, Alissa, and her colleagues back at the studio, who were undoubtedly fraught with concern over her situation.
âs BunnyBookery
âDonât worry, Iâve already instructed Fernando to handle the announcement.
â
With their plan set, Matthew departed f
or the Clark family house.
In Luciaâs room, alongside Waldo and the familyâs private doctor, was Lindsay, all gathered around Lucia who remained unconscious on the bed.
When Matthew entered the room and saw Lindsay, his expression instantly turned icy, and he briskly moved past her to address the doctor directly.
âWhat happened? What caused my grandma to fall unconscious?â
The doctor responded reassuringly, âShe became overly emotional, which caused her to faint.
However, her condition has now stabilized.
She should wake up soon.
â
Matthewâs tension eased slightly at the news, but his expression remained somber.
As the doctor provided the update, Lucia began to stir.
Her eyes fluttered open, and upon seeing Matthew, she weakly called out, âMatthew, is that you?â
Rushing to her side, Matthew asked, âGrandma.
How are you feeling now?â
Lucia, gathering a bit of strength, replied, âIâm alright.
â
But her momentary calm quickly gave way to anxiety as she pressed for more information, her voice laden with worry.
âPlease, I need to know the truth.
Whereâs Stella? Is she safe?â
Matthew held Luciaâs hand and said reassuringly, âGrandma, donât worry.
She is fine.
â
But Lucia was not convinced.
For her, Matthew was trying to comfort her with a lie.
