Chapter 2026
When Love Comes Late
However, Lindsay became cautious and refused to listen to her anymore.
Though she wished Matthew would divorce Stella, his recent behavior meant he still had feelings for her.
The possibility of a divorce over this seemed slim.
She decided to visit the company to get more information from Fernando and then make the next plan.
However, when she arrived at the company, Fernando was nowhere to be found.
Upon Matthewâs arrival at the hospital, Fernando exited a different vehicle.
He quickly informed Matthew, âElizabeth is missing.
â
Matthew halted, his stride interrupted, and his brow furrowed.
âWhat occurred?â
Fernando explained, âWhen Kristian lost control and seized Bella, everyoneâs focus was on him.
By the time we remembered Elizabeth an
d searched for her, she was already gone.
â
Matthewâs face grew stern.
âHave you deployed a search party? She shouldnât have gone far given her state.
â
âYes, I immediately sent a team.
However, thereâs a stretch of road lacking surveillance, and we lost her there.
â
Matthewâs jaw tightened.
âContinue the search.
We will leave no stone unturned in Seamarsh.
Locate her.
â
âUnderstood, sir!â Fernando acknowledged and departed swiftly.
Matthewâs gaze grew intense.
Meanwhile, Lindsay had stayed in the office all day, anticipating either Fernandoâs or Matthewâs arrival, but to no avail.
She couldnât extract any information from her coworkers and didnât want to arouse Matthewâs suspicion.
The hours slipped by.
Exasperated, she collected her belongings and headed out.
As Lindsay stepped outside, intending to grab a coffee, her attention was captured by a woman hiding behind a tree.
The woman appeared ghostly pale and was glancing around nervously.
Lindsay instinctively quickened her pace, aiming to avoid any possible confrontation.
However, after only two steps, a sense of familiarity with the womanâs face caused her to pause.
Lindsay shook her head, thinking she must be imagining things.
Just as she reached the coffee shop door, a face suddenly flashed in her mind.
That woman⦠She was Stellaâs sister! Her name was Elizabeth.
After Lindsay returned to Seamarsh, she had researched everything she could find about Stella.
Memories of the turmoil Elizabeth had caused Stella flooded her mind.
That was why Elizabeth seemed familiar.
Recalling the conflict between the sisters, Lindsay formulated a plan.
