Chapter 2044
When Love Comes Late
She waited at the hospital entrance for a bit and saw Clint stepping out of a taxi.
Stella quickly approached him, offering an appeasing smile.
âGrandpa, please donât be mad.
It was not a big deal, so I hadnât planned on telling you.
â
âNot a big deal? So, what do you think is a big deal? If I hadnât come to Seamarsh today, would you have kept me from seeing your mother forever?â Clintâs words were sharp, but his expression remained calm.
Stella responded with an awkward smile, âI was going to call you to come to Seamarsh once my mom was discharged from the hospital.
â
âEver since you married, youâve been making decisions alone.
â Clintâs tone softened.
Together, they headed to the ward.
Bella was surprised to see Clint and greeted him warmly, âWhat brings you here?â
She started to get up.
Clint quickly stopped her, saying, âNo.
Donât get up.
I just came to see you.
How could you not tell me what happened? If I hadnât accidentally seen the news, I would still be in the dark.
Didnât anyone think to inform me? Donât you take me as your family?â
Bella, not used to being scolded by an elder, was momentarily at a loss for words.
Stella interjected, âGrandpa, you are the person I respect the most.
I decided to keep it from you.
Mom didnât know.
â
Clint sighed and said, âIâm just worried about you.
I raised Stella as if she were my granddaughter.
My children arenât kind to me.
Now, I see you as my daughter, but you hide things from me, making
me feel redundant.
â
Bella felt guilty.
âItâs our fault.
We shouldnât have kept this from you.
Iâm truly grateful for all the care youâve shown Stella over the years.
Iâve never had a father or mother, and for the first time, I feel cared for by an elder.
It makes me very happy.

The three of them chatted for a while, and Bella asked Clint, âDo you have any photos of Stella from her childhood? I missed out on those years, and Iâd love to see what she was Like.
â
Clint responded, âI documented every stage of Stellaâs growth, but the albums are at my home, not here.
â
Bella was slightly disappointed but quickly perked up.
âWhen I left the hospital, letâs visit Bysea together.
Iâd like to see where Stella grew up.
â
Clint nodded and said, âSure.
â
Then, he suddenly added, âActually, I have some photos on my phone.
Let me show you those for now.
â
He opened his phoneâs gallery and shared the images with Bella.
Bella gazed at a photo of a young Stella, and her expression softened.
Her fingers lightly caressed the little girlâs cheek in the photo, stirring a mix of emotions within her.
She regretted not being there for Stella during her early years, and on the other hand, she felt the happiness of reconnecting with what she had missed.
As they viewed the photos, Clint smiled warmly.
âYou and your daughter share a resemblance.
Stella has always been adorable, right from her childhood.
â
Bella found herself smiling in response.
