Chapter 2047
When Love Comes Late
It should have smelled delicious, but to Stella, it was repulsive.
Her face soured, and she quickly covered her mouth before rushing out.
Bella stood up, concerned.
âIâm going to check on her.
â
But Matthew stopped her and said, âStay and eat.
Iâll go check on her.
â
He then hurried after Stella.
Bella felt slightly reassured, knowing Matthew was with Stella.
She resumed her seat, her gaze lingering on the path they had taken.
Lucia and Waldo exchanged looks, both confused and worried.
Suddenly, Luciaâs face lit up with realization.
Waldo was surprised at her reaction and asked, âWhatâs up?â
Lucia exclaimed, âIt just dawned on me.
Stellaâs sudden reaction⦠Could she be pregnant? Do you remember my early days of pregnancy?â
As soon as the words left her mouth, Lindsayâs hold on her utensils tightened, her expression contorting in disbelief.
Stella was pregnant!
Lindsay struggled to conceal her envy, keeping her emotions under wraps.
When Stella and Matthew returned from the bathroom, they overheard Luciaâs speculation and were both surprised.
Stella subconsciously tightened her hold on Matthewâs hand.
Lucia, oblivious to the tension, smiled brightly at them.
Convinced that Stella might be pregnant but not wanting to cause any stress, she glanced subtly at Stellaâs abdomen and asked with warmth, âStella, are you feeling any better now? Is everything okay?â
âYeah, Iâm fine.
Sorry for worrying you,â Stella responded, taking her seat amid a whirlwind of emotions.
Lucia turned to a servant and said, âPlease prepare some Light food.
Stella might have an upset stomach.
Stella, if youâre still not feeling well, remind Matthew to take you to the hospital.
â
Feeling the weight of everyoneâs gaze, Stella shifted uncomfortably in her seat.
She was aware that Matthew was hesitant about starting a family.
If she were indeed pregnant, would he be supportive? Or would he suggest an abortion, as he had in the past?
Lindsay, picking up on Stellaâs discomfort, secretly speculated whether Stella was apprehensive about the baby, fearing it might interfere with her career.
Seizing the moment, Lindsay feigned concern and said, âHaving an upset stomach is not a minor thing.
Stella, you should head to the hospital for a check-up.
If youâre really pregnant, Grandpa and Grandma will be thrilled.
â
Stellaâs heart raced as she met the expectant looks of the three elders.
She knew Lindsay must have said those words out of ulterior motives, but she couldnât muster the focus to address them now.
