Chapter 2048
When Love Comes Late
A heavy weight seemed to press on her chest.
The idea of having a baby overwhelmed her.
She was clueless about Matthewâs feelings on the matter.
The mere possibility of pregnancy threw her into a state of panic.
At her witâs end, Stella felt utterly lost.
Matthew, despite his whirlwind of emotions, gave Stellaâs hand a comforting squeeze and said, âIâll have her see a doctor later.
â
âThatâs wise,â Lucia responded, masking her worry that it could be a false alarm.
She said, âTry not to worry too much.
Looking after your health comes first.
â
Matthew responded with a casual nod, but Stella noticed his hand was cold, deepening the dread in her heart.
Lindsay observed the interaction between Matthew and Stella intently, a smug expression crossing her face.
They had been married long enough to have children, she reasoned unless there was some underlying issue.
This only validated her suspicion that they didnât agree on having children.
Perhaps it was Stella who didnât want a child yet, and Lindsay was more than ready to step in if that was the case.
Luciaâs longing for a great-grandchild was unmistakable.
If Stella showed disinterest, it would undoubtedly disappoint her.
Should this scenario persist, both Waldo and Lucia would find it unacceptable.
They would soon seek someone else to take Stellaâs place as Matthewâs wife.
With both Lucia and Matthew di
scontent, Stella and Matthewâs marriage seemed destined for divorce.
Lindsay couldnât hide her delight at the thought.
Overwhelmed with joy, Lindsay devoured her entire meal.
Stella, on the other hand, struggled to eat and left most of her food untouched.
She excused herself from the table and hurried to the bathroom.
There, she retched without relief, her stomach churning with nausea that refused to subside.
After rinsing her mouth and gazing into the mirror, she found herself unconsciously caressing her abdomen.
Could she be pregnant?
Matthew entered and observed her closely.
His expression was unreadable, his tone even.
âAre you sure youâre pregnant?â
Accepting the tissue he handed her, Stella wiped her mouth, and responded with uncertainty, âI canât be sure, but my period hasnât come yet.
Itâs possible, given the timing.
â
Matthew watched her carefully, his silence heavy with implication.
