Chapter 2060
When Love Comes Late
Trapped by Lindsayâs insistence, Joann reluctantly went along but she really wanted to find an excuse to leave quickly.
She knew if anything were to happen to Stella or her baby while there, she would be the prime suspect.
At that moment, Joann wanted nothing to do with Lindsay.
Lindsay gripped Joannâs arm firmly, leaving her unable to maintain any distance from Stella.
Stella gave a cold response to the friendly Lindsay, only saying, âYeah.
â
Despite Stellaâs cool manner, Lindsay didnât back down.
She continued the conversation and even asked about Bellaâs health.
âAre you taking Bella for a reexamination today? After such a big accident, itâs important to take good care of her.
â
Stella was familiar with Lindsayâs insincere concern and remained distant, even as Lindsay seemed genuinely worried.
She glanced at her watch.
âIs there anything else? We are in a hurry.
â
Her reluctance to engage was clear.
Lindsay paused, surprised by the dismissal.
Joann quickly interjected, saying, âWe were just passing by.
We saw you and thought we should say hello.
Weâre actually on our way out.
â
Stella stayed silent, grabbed Bellaâs arm, and walked away.
âCome on, Lindsay.
â Joann was ready to leave, and she wanted Lindsay to come along.
However, Lindsay remained still.
She stared at Stellaâs back with a look of deep hatred and intentionally pushed away Joannâs hand.
Caught off guard, Joann stumbled and started falling toward Stella.
At that moment, Joannâs heart raced.
She tried to stop herself, but her legs wouldnât obey her.
She crashed right into Stellaâs back.
Stella hit the ground quickly.
âStella!â Alissa and Bella shouted together.
They rushed to Stellaâs side and lifted her up, only then seeing the blood on the ground.
When Matthew rushed into the hospital, he found Stella still undergoing treatment in the consulting room.
Bella had urgently called him, informing him of Stellaâs fall, but had left out the details in her distress.
Matthewâs face darkened with concern as he scanned the corridor, his voice tinged with urgency.
âWho did this?â
Joann, overwhelmed by the gravity of the situation, remained silent, unable to confess.
Lindsay, too, refused to step forward.
Bella, preoccupied with concern for Stella, had no energy to address the unfolding drama.
