Chapter 2075
When Love Comes Late
Before exiting, Sanford turned back to Matthew and remarked, âMs.
Anderson is an excellent and charming woman.
I do hope I have the pleasure of meeting her again.
â
With those strange words hanging in the air, he didnât spare Matthew another glance but opened the door and stepped out.
Matthewâs expression was icy and formidable.
His eyes radiated a chilling intensity, and his entire demeanor was cloaked in frost as he watched Sanfordâs retreating figure.
Even as Sanford reached the door, he could sense Matthewâs piercing gaze on his back, yet he dismissed it with nonchalance.
Outside the ward, Sanford encountered Fernando, who regarded him with an equally frosty stare.
Sanford simply smiled and continued on his way.
In the ward, Matthew sat on the edge of the bed, his actions gentle as he held Stellaâs cold hand.
He tenderly brushed her hair back from her face and touched her feverish forehead.
Guilt washed over him-he had left too early that morning and failed to notice her ill health.
Stellaâs eyelids fluttered slightly, responding to his touch.
Meanwhile, Sanford entered the elevator, his thoughts lingering on the time he had spent with Stella.
With a smile playing at the corners of his mouth, he made a call.
âGrandpa,â he greeted the man on the other end of the line respectfully, and then added meaningfully, âHe has a daughter.
â
The conversation was brief, lasting less than a minute.
After hanging up the phone, Sanfordâs face held a profound expression, reflecting the weight of the conversation.
The elevator continued its descent, and before it reached the ground floor, his phone rang again.
The caller, speaking with deference, informed him, âMr.
Quimby, someone is investigating the Lowell family.
â
Sanford raised an eyebrow, a hint of intrigue in his voice as he replied, âIs that so?â
A mysterious smile spread across his face.
With calculated calm, he added, âIn that case, letâs lend them a hand and release this information.
â
Stella didnât wake up until the infusion was done in the evening.
She was still a bit dazed when she saw Matthew.
Recalling what happened before she passed out, she asked, âWhy are you here?â
She glanced around, confused, and asked, âIs this the hospital? Why am I here?â
Matthew replied, âWhy didnât you tell me you were sick? You even went to the launch event by yourself.
â
He wasnât trying to blame Stella but was genuinely concerned, especially because of that strange man.
He couldnât figure out his intentions, so he had to stay alert.
Seeing his stern face, Stella thought he was angry.
She held his hand and gently said, âI felt a bit off this morning, but I didnât expect it to get this bad.
Iâm sorry for worrying you.
â
To change the subject, Stella added, âBy the way, do you know I gained a lot from the event today? I met the design director of Sanz Group and had a chat with him.
â
