Chapter 2241
When Love Comes Late
With renewed determination, Stella said firmly, âGet the medicine, please.
â
Seeing Stellaâs condition, Doreen feared she might faint if she didnât comply.
Reluctantly, she fetched the medicine.
Stella, in excruciating pain, took the pills without water, the bitter taste spreading across her tongue.
Yet, the bitterness in her mouth was insignificant compared to the pain in her heart.
After a few minutes of rest, Stella managed to stand, albeit unsteadily.
Doreen, her eyes red from worry, quickly supported her.
âDo you feel any better?â
Stella managed a reassuring smile.
âDonât worry, Iâm fine.
â
With that, she declined Doreenâs support, summoning all her strength to walk out of the meeting room.
As anticipated, when Stella stepped out of the meeting room, she could faintly hear whispers from the secretarial office.
âDid you see? Mr.
Clark actually carried Lindsay out himself.
Only the CEOâs wife gets that kind of attention, right?â
âDo you think thereâs tension between Mr.
Clark and Stella? Actually, I always feel that Lindsay has some ulterior motives about Mr.
Clark.

âIt does seem like theyâve had a falling out.
Itâs been a while since theyâve seemed close.
â
Listening to the whispers, Stella felt a pang of sadness.
However, as she was no longer an employee at Prosperity Group, she had no authority to address their comments.
Choosing to ignore them, she continued with Doreen.
Struggling to walk out of the building, Stella was about to get into the car when her cell phone rang unexpectedly.
Instinctively, she reached for it, but her vision suddenly blurred.
In the next instant, everything went dark, and she lost consciousness.
She had no sense of time passing.
When she slowly opened her eyes, Stella squinted, adjusting to the bright light.
Through her blurred vision, she vaguely made out a familiar figureâa man peeling fruit with his head bowed.
Relishing the serene atmosphere, Stella hesitated to disturb the quiet.
When Sanford finished peeling the apple and looked up, he noticed Stella had woken.
He smiled warmly.
Placing the peeled apple on a plate, he offered gently, âWould you like some?â
