Chapter 2247
When Love Comes Late
Matthew glanced at Stella with a sense of guilt.
He recalled that he had an appointment with Ronan on his birthday, who would be coming to Seamarsh for Lindsayâs treatment.
Suppressing his emotions, he said, âItâs just a birthday.
Whether I celebrate it or not isnât important.
I have plans that day, so I wonât be celebrating.
â
Lucia, surprised, glanced at Stella.
Stella, though taken aback, remained composed.
âWell, Lucia, I just remembered that my studioâs product launch is imminent, linked to Prosperity Group.
Weâre both quite busy.
We can take a trip another time.
â
Lucia sighed, noting the shift in Matthew and Stellaâs relationship, which no longer seemed as close.
Reluctantly, she said, âAlright, as long as you both have your plans.
â
After dinner, Stella looked for a way to leave.
But Lucia intervened, saying, âItâs rare for both of you to visit.
Why donât you stay the night?â
âLuciaâ¦â Stella instinctively wanted to refuse.
However, Lucia didnât allow her any chance to decline, insisting, âYou two stay here; just keep me company.
â
Unable to refuse further, Stella glanced at Matthew, searching for his reaction.
Matthew appeared troubled, lost in thought.
After a few moments of hesitation, he eventually agreed, âAlright, weâll return tomorrow.
â
Stella felt a surge of nervousness at his words but chose not to object.
Luciaâs smile remained unwavering as she heard Matthewâs response.
She took Stellaâs hand and said, âCome and chat with me.
â
Stella nodded and followed Lucia to the living room.
Meanwhile, Matthew was summoned to the study by Waldo.
Upon entering the study, Waldoâs expression turned stern.
He looked at Matthew with cold eyes and asked directly, âDid you and Stella have a disagreement?â
Matthew remained silent, refusing to answer.
Waldo sighed in frustration.
âSince your return from Sothrea, your relationship with Stella seems strained.
Even I can see it.
What happened?â
Matthewâs expression was conflicted.
Not wanting to burden his grandfather with concerns about his marriage, he said, âItâs nothing.
Iâll handle it.
â
How could Waldo not see through Matthewâs thoughts?
He spoke gravely.
âMatthew, youâre married to Stella now.
Donât let this slip away.
â
