Chapter 255
When Love Comes Late
Several questions were threading Stellaâs mind when the elevator came to a halt and the doors swung open.
Jeremy held Stellaâs hand and led her out.
She felt a cold stare on her back.
It gave her the heebie-jeebies.
When they arrived at her desk, Jeremy held out his hand again and said, âIt was nice meeting you, Stella.
Now that we are colleagues, I hope we have a pleasant relationship.
â
âYeah, I look forward to working with you.
â Stella shook his hand very briefly.
Jeremy straightened up.
He put on his sunglasses and said gingerly, âIf your ankle continues to give you problems, donât hesitate to inform me, Iâll do the best I can to help you.
â
Stella nodded.
with a smile.
Once he left, she thought about what happened in the elevator.
Another question popped in her mind.
Why was Matthew so hostile to his cousin?
âStella!â Evieâs voice suddenly interrupted her thoughts.
âYou are close to Jeremy?â
âOf course not! I just bumped into him this morning,â Stella denied without missing a beat.
âOh,â Evie muttered with doubt written all over her face.

âJeremy is Charleneâs son.
I heard he just returned to Seamarsh after spending years abroad.
It seems heâs back just to compete with Mr.
Clark for power.
I can feel it in my guts that war is about to break out.
â
After saying that, Evie fixed her eyes on Stella in a bid to catch the slightest reaction to that news.
Her face deadpan, Stella uttered indifferently, âWhat goes on between them is none of our business.
We are employed here to work, so do just that.
â
Finally, Stella understood why Matthew was so cold to Jeremy.
However, it wasnât in her place to gossip about her bossâs family affairs.
Matthew was in his office.
Jeremy didnât bother knocking as he shoved the door open and waltzed in.
He glanced around, evaluating the place.
âYour office still hasnât changed one bit, even after all these years.
He took a seat in the chair in front of Matthew.
Ignoring his presence, Matthew continued examining the documents in his hands.
