Chapter 288
When Love Comes Late
âAre you going to turn me down again?â Jeremy slapped his chest.
âThat hurts! Last night, you promised that we could eat together some other time.
Since you are going to have lunch, why not kill two birds with one stone? Is there something you are not telling me?â
Stella felt guilty.
âIâm honestly just trying to make it up to you for causing your injury.
Why arenât you allowing me to do so? Do you have a problem with me?â Jeremy asked, looking genuinely hurt.
Stella didnât know what to say.
She couldnât find a reasonable excuse, so she gave up.
In a high-end restaurant near Prosperity Group, Matthew flipped through the menu absent-mindedly and looked out the window from time to time.
It was lunchtime.
So, he figured that Stella would be out anytime soon.
He would make her have lunch with him as soon as he spotted her.
Matthew couldnât help smiling as he went over the plan in his head.
On the other hand, Fernando was in torment.
He glanced at his watch for the umpteenth time and became even more anxious.
According to Matthewâs schedule for the day, he had to be in a video conference in the afternoon.
Lunchtime was about to elapse.
Yet, Matthew hadnât placed an order.
He was going to be late for the meeting if he continued like this.

It took all of Fernandoâs courage to clear his throat and say, âMr.
Clark, itâs almost time for the video conference.
How about I order takeout and bring it to your office so you can have it later?â
Matthew rarely went out for lunch.
Usually, he ordered takeout and ate in his office.
He even skipped Lunch on most days.
However, today was different.
Fernando didnât understand why.
He waited for a response.
And when he didnât get any, he looked up, only to find that Matthew was frowning and his eyes were sharp.
He followed the line of his bossâs vision.
Just then, he saw Stella and Jeremy walking towards the restaurant side by side.
His jaw dropped to the floor.
Why was Stella with Jeremy of all people?
The first thought that came to Stellaâs mind after they walked into the restaurant was to tell Jeremy that they didnât have to eat somewhere so expensive.
She had just turned to him when her eyes accidentally met Matthewâs cold ones.
She froze and wanted to run away.
But on second thought, she knew it would be impossible for her to explain her actions later.
