Clearing his throat, he asked, âWere you asleep?â
âNo, Mr.
Clark.
Is there something urgent?â
Matthewâs mind went completely blank.
For the first time in his life, he felt utterly flustered.
Stella couldnât take the awkward silence anymore.
âAre you okay, Mr.
Clark? Whatâs wrong?â
Matthew immediately snapped out of his trance, hurriedly asking, âHow is work going? I mean Donnâs art exhibition.
â
âIâm done with the plan.
Iâll give it to you tomorrow,â Stella answered in a serious tone, seeing as his question was work-related.
âALL right then,â Matthew responded.
They fell into silence again.
It was very awkward, but Matthew didnât hang up.
Stella remembered Matthew got hurt trying to save her that afternoon, so she asked, âUh, how is your arm now, Mr.
Clark?â
When she got back to the company, she was swamped with work.
She only found out that Fernando didnât come back after taking Matthew to the hospital when she was about to clock out.
Just the thought alone made her feel guilty.
Matthew wouldnât have gotten hurt if he didnât save her.

â Matthew realized that he sounded very uninterested and added, âAccording to the doctor, you did a good job on it and was able to deal with it in time.
â
Stella was relieved.
âOkay, thank goodness.
Please be mindful of it.
â
âI will.
â Matthew was happy.
âRest well now.
â
He hung up, his heart feeling warm.
Meanwhile, Charlene walked to Jeremyâs room.
Poking her head inside a little, she said softly, âGo eat.
Dinner is ready.
â
Jeremy didnât bother looking up at her as he was so focused on the papers in his hand.
