Chapter 314
When Love Comes Late
There was a brief silence before the sound of Jeremyâs laugh echoed throughout.
âYou donât have to make up such a lie just to reject me, Stella.
â
With a serious expression, Stella said, âBelieve it or not, I am married.
If you donât have anything to say about the art exhibition, Iâll be leaving then.
â
After picking all her bag, Stella began to head for the exit.
She thought he just used the art exhibition as an excuse to ask her out.
Jeremy gripped her hand tightly.
Stella struggled, trying her best to break free.
It was no use, though; he was way stronger than her.
âWhat the hell are you trying to do?â she asked, growing irritated.
âIt doesnât matter if youâre married.

Jeremy took her silence positively.
Smiling smugly, he opened his drawer with his free hand, and took out a check and a contract.
He handed them to her, hinting with his eyebrows that she should take a look.
âThis is one million dollars and the contract for an apartment in the center of Seamarsh.
Once you sign it, both the money and the apartment will be yours.
â
Stella was forced to comply.
She glanced through the document, finally understanding what Jeremyâs goal was.
He planned on using her to get information on Matthew.
The offer was indeed quite tempting, but Stella was better than that.
âThis money isnât nearly enough.
â
Jeremy thought she was finally on board and he smiled triumphantly.
âIf youâre able to give me valuable information, you will certainly get way more than this.
After all, this is only the beginning, right?â
Stella stared at him in bemusement.
He looked so confident and determined.
