Chapter 59
When Love Comes Late
After paying the bill, the two walked out of the jewelry store.
They were walking past a few more shops when something suddenly caught Stellaâs attention.
It was a series of neckties that was in a display cabinet for menâs accessories.
Oliver was the first person to come to mind when she saw a dark green tie.
She remembered that he had a red suit.
In her mindâs eye, she pictured him matching this tie with the suit and how it gave off a high-class retro taste.
Matthewâs phone rang suddenly.
He signaled at her and halted in a corner to answer it.
Stella immediately seized the opportunity to walk into the shop.
It took less than three minutes for her to purchase the green tie.

When she walked out, she saw that Matthew was done with the phone call and was waiting for her.
Surprised and embarrassed, she stuffed the small shopping bag into her handbag.
âSorry for keeping you waiting, sir.
I thought you would be long on the phone, so I just took the time to buy a gift for a loved one.
â
Matthew nodded and looked at the menâs clothing shop, Lost in thought.
âIs there anything else youâd like to buy? If no, can we head back to the hotel now?â Stella asked for his opinion.
âLetâs go.
â Matthew walked away immediately.
Stella followed him and muttered under her breath, âSorry, Mileyâ¦â
She couldnât keep Matthew waiting while she shopped, so she decided to get gifts for Miley and Juliette tomorrow.
Once Stella got back to her hotel room, she shut the door behind her and threw her bag aside.
She then sprawled on the bed and stared at the ceiling without blinking.
If she had known that she would bump into Matthew today, she would have just stayed holed up in this room.
Business affairs and private runs were like chalk and cheese.

Stella sighed as she wished todayâs incident never happened again.
Suddenly, her phone rang.
It was a video call from Oliver.
As soon as the call connected, Oliverâs face came into view and he asked, âHey, Stella! Arenât you done with work yet? When will you come back? I can pick you up from the airport.
â
With her phone in hand, Stella turned over and said tiredly, âDonât you watch the news? This weather over here has been terrible.
Besides, I have to accompany Matthew to inspect the branch.
Perhaps Iâll return in two days.
â
Matthew had only informed her about the inspection on the way back.
The next second, Stella remembered how dramatic Oliver could be, so she warned, âYou donât have to pick me up.
I am serious, Oliver.
â
âOkay, okay.
â Oliver agreed.
âRemember, your health comes first.
Take good care of yourself and be careful when dealing with your boss.
â
âOkay.
â Stella rubbed between her eyebrows and then snapped her fingers.
