Chapter 782
When Love Comes Late
For a moment, the pair exchanged a ten-second glance before Matthew averted his eyes and dumped the plateâs contents into the garbage.
âAh, youâre awake.
â Matthew greeted her calmly.
âThis pot is subpar.
Iâll ask Fernando to bring a replacement later.
â
Stella, now fully aware, was amused by his feeble excuse.
To preserve his enthusiasm, she tried her best to stifle her laughter.
Clearing her throat to steady her voice, she said, âIâm not much of a cook myself.
Iâll pop downstairs and grab some breakfast from the restaurant.
â
âAlright.
â Matthew inspected the scorched bottom of the pot and frowned.
Seconds later, he tossed the ruined pot into the trash, secured the garbage bag, and lifted it.
Composure restored, he said, âIâll head downstairs to dispose of the trash and pick up some breakfast while Iâm at it.
You should freshen up.
â
âSounds good.
â
They went their separate ways.
When Stella emerged, freshly washed and revitalized, a sumptuous breakfast awaited her in the dining area.
As they ate, she told Matthew, âOnce weâre done eating, you should head back to change and go to work.
Iâve got my own projects to tackle.
â
Matthew nodded in agreement.

After the meal, Matthew drove back to his office, while Stella retreated to her studio.
Shortly thereafter, there was a knock at the door.
Assuming Matthew had forgotten something, Stella opened the door, poised to say, âDid you leaveâ¦â
The moment she opened the door, Stella found Flossie standing outside and stopped talking at once.
âFlossie? What brings you here?â
Flossie greeted her with a grin.
âAm I not welcome?â
âOf course you are! Come in,â Stella said warmly.
Flossie had been at a fashion show the previous day, leaving her unable to attend Stellaâs gathering.
