Chapter 85
When Love Comes Late
She tried to hug him, but Matthew ducked with a disgusted expression.
Vivienâs arms froze in the air.
Matthew stepped back and glanced at her coldly.
âWhat are you doing here?â he asked in an unfriendly tone.
Vivien dropped her arms and smiled again.
She held up the lunch box and said, âI heard you were returning today, so I asked your mother to teach me how to make your favorite food.
You must be hungry, right?â
The gloom on Matthewâs face deepened.
He shook his head disappointedly and warned sternly, âStop going to see my mother.
â
He knew how his mother was.
Despite facing a lot of hardships for more than half her life, Amara was still a softie.
He feared that she would fall for Vivienâs sweet words and acting.
A long time ago, Amara forced him to go on a date with Vivien.
It took only one date for him to realize that he couldnât be with a woman like Vivien.
They didnât even click at all.
From that day, he classified who she was to him.
She was an acquaintance because she saved his mother, and nothing else.
Seeing that Matthew was staring daggers at her, Vivien pouted and said with feigned remorse, âMatthew, I know I was out of line last time.
My anger got the best of me.
It wasnât until later on that I realized what I had done.
Iâm sorry for acting so irrationally.
Can you let it go, okay?â

Matthew remained silent.
Vivien shimmied like a spoiled child and continued, âI know you only just got back, but I have been waiting here for hours.
Since I already apologized sincerely, can you forgive me, please? I promise I wonât do that again.
â
Matthew rubbed his temples before looking at Vivien with a calm expression.
âLet me make this clear for the last time, Vivien.
Iâm super grateful that you saved my motherâs life.
For that, Iâll do anything I can to help you, but thatâs about it.
Donât show up in front of me if you have nothing to discuss about work.
You know the paparazzi are thirsty.
If they take pictures of us together, it will cause unnecessary issues.
â
âMatthew, I-â
âTake the food with you.
I donât want it.
â
Without giving her a listening ear further, Matthew shouldered past her and walked into his house.
Vivien felt as if a sharp knife had just been driven into her heart.
Her body shook and her breathing became shaky.
She stared at the closed door as if Matthew had just shut his heart to her again.
Still unwilling to give up, Vivien clenched the lunch box.
