Chapter 883
When Love Comes Late
Matthew held her closer, resting his chin on Stellaâs shoulder.
Inhaling the alluring scent of her, he said in a husky voice, âLet me hold you a little while Longer.
â
Amused by his playful words, Stella pushed him gently and reminded him, âIf we donât leave soon, weâll be late.
â
Matthew responded by planting a tender ki*s on her cheek before leading her out.
The sleek black Maybach glided to a halt in front of the hotel lobby.
Matthew pointed to a nearby spot and said, âIâll be in the executive lounge on the first floor, eagerly awaiting the news of your success.
â
Stella nodded and opened the car door, stepping out.
She entered the elevator and made her way to the private room where she had arranged to meet Mia.
To her surprise, upon arrival, she discovered that several designers had already gathered there.
Stellaâs gaze swept across the room, and she quickly realized that most of the people present were renowned designers from Seamarsh, with Slater being the most prominent among them.
Upon spotting him, Stella couldnât help but feel a twinge of surprise, which she concealed swiftly.
It made sense for Slater to be here this time.
Miaâs chosen partner now included Prosperity Group, and Slater currently served as the design consultant for the company.
Just as Stella was debating whether to approach Slater, he took the initiative and walked up to her with a smile, raising his eyebrows.
âStella, long time no see.
â
âLong time no see,â Stella replied politely.
âAre you settling in well at the Prosperity Group?â
Slater chuckled, his tone casual.
âCertainly, your assistant, Devyn, has been quite helpful.
Iâll be leaving Prosperity Group in three months, and I might take her with me.
â
His words left Stella uncertain whether he was jesting or being serious, causing her to frown.
Observing her reaction, Slater smiled again.
âDid you take my words seriously? Iâm just kidding.
Itâs already unfortunate that Prosperity Group lost such a renowned designer as yourself.
I wouldnât dream of taking away someone elseâs prized asset.
â
He paused, leaning in closer to Stella and whispering in her ear, âThis time, Iâll do my utmost to facilitate a partnership between Prosperity Group and Mia.
I believe I can win you over this time.
â
Stellaâs expression softened, and she replied modestly, âLast time, it was just luck that I won.
I still have much to learn from you.
â
Slater raised an eyebrow and said indifferently, âI hope so.
â
As the two conversed, the door swung open once more, and Mia made her entrance.
