Chapter 895
When Love Comes Late
Matthew frowned, his warm breath brushed against Stellaâs face as he spoke.
âI told you not to contact Farris anymore.
Why would you bring up his name?â
Stella met his unwavering gaze and pursed her lips.
âHeâs my friend.
Now, heâs facing accusations from both the hospital and Blue Flame because of me.
I believe itâs imperative that I speak with him face to face this time.
â
Stellaâs words extinguished Matthewâs initial interest entirely.
His icy gaze remained fixed on her face, and in that moment, he recalled Farris mentioning that Stella had been with him before.
However, he hadnât taken those words seriously back then.
After all, during the year he had married Stella, there had been no contact between her and Farris.
It was only Clintâs illness that had brought Farris into her life.
Stella was legally his wife, and even if she had known Farris earlier, that fundamental fact couldnât be altered.
Matthew was confident that he wouldnât allow their past relationship to rekindle.
Yet, here was Stella, speaking up for Farris.
Could it be that she was concerned about him?
Matthew couldnât accept that notion.
With this thought, anger began to well up inside him.
He struggled to contain it, guiding Stella to a nearby chair.
Turning away, he tugged at his tie, the anger simmering and intensifying.
Noticing Matthewâs growing anger, Stella cast her eyes downward, pondered for a moment, and then continued, âMatthew, Iâve had previous contact with Farris, and I believe heâs a good man who wouldnât harm me.
There must be some kind of misunderstanding.
â
âHe wonât hurt you?â
This remark only further fueled Matthewâs fury.
He turned around, his expression tinged with self-derision, and approached Stella.
His tall figure loomed over her, casting a shadow.
After a brief contemplation, Matthew adopted a more serious tone.
âDo you really have to meet with Farris?â
Stella met his gaze with determination and replied, âYes.
â
Stellaâs resolute answer left Matthew feeling frustrated.
He looked down at her and spoke in a deep, commanding voice.
âDo not seek out Farris, or you will regret it.
â
