Chapter 924
When Love Comes Late
She turned to the entrance and saw a young, attractive girl with big, expressive eyes.
Leslie looked at Stella with admiration, clearly impressed by Matthewâs tender care for her.
Approaching the couple, Leslieâs face broke into a slight smile as she greeted Stella.
Regaining her composure, Stella politely responded, âHello, Iâm Matthewâs wife, Stella.
â
Then, turning to Matthew, she asked, âWho is this young lady?â
A flicker of recognition crossed Stellaâs mind as she recalled hearing the girlâs voice.
While she was chatting with Matthew on the video call the previous night, he said the girl was a clientâs daughter.
But what was she doing here in Seamarsh?
âThis is Leslie Aguilar.
I met her while looking for a doctor during my business trip.
â Matthew smiled as he introduced the woman to his wife.
âs BunnyBookery
âA doctor?â Stella asked, confused.
âYes, you were trying to recover your memories, right? Leslieâs father is a specialist in that area,â Matthew explained.
Stella locked eyes with Matthew, feeling a rush of gratitude that nearly overwhelmed her.
Suddenly, the lights abruptly illuminated the theater.
With the room now brightly lit, Stella saw Greg crumpled on the floor, which only heightened her gratitude towards Matthew for his timely intervention.
Her feelings for him deepened in that moment of relief.
âLetâs go home,â Matthew said, taking Stellaâs hand and guiding her to the exit.
As Stellaâs fingers intertwined with his, she noticed the icy chill of his skin and a subtle tremor.
âMatthew?â she called out softly as she noticed beads of sweat on his forehead.
Suddenly, it hit Stella that being in the dark, enclosed theater for so long had triggered Matthewâs claustrophobia.
She clasped his hand as they made their way out of the theater.
âAre you okay? Should we go to the hospital?â she asked, her voice Laced with worry.
âItâs nothing serious.
Iâll be fine,â Matthew responded, his lips pale.
He mustered a smile to alleviate Stellaâs concerns.
However, Stellaâs anxiety only grew.
Desperate to soothe Matthew but unsure how to help, she felt helpless as she watched him tremble.
âWe really should get you to a hospital.
â She gripped his arm firmly and guided him towards their car.
But then, Matthewâs condition worsened, his vision blurring as he started to lose consciousness.
