Chapter 95
When Love Comes Late
She knew that he couldnât teach her how to play another way, but she couldnât help feeling overwhelmed as his breath fanned her neck.
She held her breath.
The second her body stiffened, a deep voice wafted into her ears.
âBring your legs together, slightly tilt your left leg outward, and shift your weight to your left foot.
â
He taught her without being distracted.
Stellaâs face was burning up.
She tried to calm down and listen to his instructions.
Shortly after, she swung the club.
The white ball drew an arc in the air and then landed perfectly.
âNice shot!â Matthew commented as he let go of her waist.
Beads of sweat suddenly appeared on Stellaâs nose.
She wiped them with the back of her hand and said with a smile, âYou are a great teacher.
â
Matthew didnât say anything to that.

He picked up the club and played a few shots alone.
When the last shot went into the hole, Stella clapped and praised him.
They went on break minutes later.
When they walked back to where the other men stood, Neville handed Stella a towel and a bottle of water.
âYou did good, Stella.
Drink some water and try catching your breath.
â
âThank you,â Stella said politely.
She took the towel to wipe the sweat and rolled up her sleeves.
Matthew paused when he saw the bruise on her arm.
He whispered to Cordell, âCan you check that bruise on her arm?â
Cordell was a doctor.
Never had Matthew asked him to treat a woman.
As a result, Cordell glanced at Stella and then at his friend suspiciously.
He walked up to her with a faint smile and said, âHey, if you donât mind, can I have a look at that bruise?â
When he saw that Stella looked at him warily, he added, âDonât get me wrong.
Iâm a doctor.
Thereâs someone who cares about you, so I have to check it.
Allow me, okay?â
Stella was stunned and looked at Matthew, reading meaning to those words.
