Chapter 975
When Love Comes Late
Farrisâ father attempted to pull her up but was unsuccessful.
Stella, fighting back tears, approached Aileen and offered solace.
âMrs.
Barnes, Farris would be saddened to see you like this.
Heâs gone.
Please take care of yourself for his peace.
â
Recognizing Stella, Aileen gripped her hand tearfully.
âIf I knew, I wouldnât have asked him to help Mina.
Farris was kind and never harmed anyone.
Sheâs vicious! How could she kill Farris?â
Her sobbing intensified, and she seemed on the brink of fainting.
âEvil people will face consequences, and the law will seek justice for Farris.
â
âI only want my son!â Aileen, tear-streaked, lamented.
âThough I adopted Farris, Iâve raised him as my own.
Farris, my son, how could you leave us?â
Stella was taken aback to learn Farris was also an orphan, but this realization faded amidst Aileenâs anguish.
As Stella moved to console Aileen, a policeman approached with a transparent bag.
âPlease identify the deceasedâs belongings.
â
âTake it awayâ¦â Aileen attempted to push the bag aside.
Seeing Aileenâs deep sorrow, Stella hesitated before reaching out.
âGive it to me.
â
Examining the bag, she found a phone and a wallet.
Inside the wallet, among other items, was a photo that caught her attention.
She furrowed her brow slightly but couldnât resist pulling out the photo.
In an instant, her eyes widened in surprise.
It was a picture of a boy and a girl.
More so, that girl was her!
The familiar scene recalled memories of the boy in the photo, her best friend from the orphanage, Calan.
Stella couldnât believe her eyes.
Trembling, memories flooded back.
Farrisâ last words echoed in her mind, deepening her sorrow.
His inexplicable concern for her during Clintâs hospitalization and his underlying worry finally made sense.
He had recognized her long before she realized he was Calan.
