Chapter 982
When Love Comes Late
Sensing Mileyâs reluctance to talk, Stella stopped trying and simply held her hand, offering silent support.
Upon their arrival at the restaurant, a waiter immediately recognized Matthew and showed them to their table.
As they settled in, the waiter presented them with menus.
Miley, still visibly upset, carelessly tossed her menu onto the table and turned her gaze outside, lost in her thoughts.
Stella, while perusing her menu, noticed the restaurantâs name and realized it was part of the Pierce familyâs business.
She casually asked Matthew, âYou come here often, donât you?â
Matthew, understanding her line of thought, confirmed, âYes, Neville owns this place.
â
The waiter, full of enthusiasm, quickly suggested, âMrs.
Clark, our restaurantâs signature dish is the black truffle.
â
âIt sounds like itâs worth trying,â Stella said.
âMiley, this place belongs to Neville.
What would you like? Matthew can get Neville to come over and pay the bill.
â
On the way over, Stella pondered how well Mileyâs business was doing, realizing she shouldnât be so upset over the company.
It could be Neville who was upsetting her.
Sure enough, at the mention of Nevilleâs name, Mileyâs face soured.
âThis is Nevilleâs restaurant,â she hissed, snatching the menu from Stella and handing it to the waiter.
âPlease bring everything on this menu and your priciest bottle of wine.
The billâs on your boss.
â
âWellâ¦â The waiter hesitated, then murmured, âSorry, but we canât put this on credit.
â
Mileyâs irritation grew.
Matthew took the menu, telling the waiter, âJust do what she asked.
â
The waiter, not daring to argue, simply said, âYes.
â He then turned around and quickly walked away.
Seeing Mileyâs reaction, Stella felt certain about her suspicions.
She asked, âDid Neville upset you?â
Miley paused, unsure of what to say.
After a moment, she turned to Matthew.
âAre the Pierces really that wealthy?â
