Chapter 33

Hanna and Larson are sitting eating in their kitchen. They look happy as they know they can intimidate Rose to give Tammy to them. There is more than one reason they want Tammy. First, they want to punish Rose for leaving overnight and taking Tammy with her. Second, they need Hanna’s parents’ money for Tammy’s education. Hanna’s parents had life cover, and the two of them had already stolen Rose’s as Rose did not know about it and the will. The only ones who knew about it were Hanna, Larson and their attorney. The lawyer is a friend of theirs, and he helped them get Rose’s money in a non-legal way. He took a chance as the money was paid into his account and was supposed to be used for Rose’s education. Now they want to do the same with Tammy’s money and save themself from bankruptcy that way. None of them has counted on Enzo, though.

“Once we have the little brat, we can ship her off to a boarding school, and she can stay there until she is done with school. I know of a cheap one, and although it does not have a good reputation, we can say we put her through school with the money,” Larson says.

“As long as she is not under my feet all day, I do not care where she goes,” Hanna says and starts laughing. She does not want to be poor or middle class. If Larson has to work for another company, they will be middle class. As they sit and talk, they get a call from their lawyer. He sounds panicked. Larson listens to what he has to say, and he is as white as a ghost when he hangs up.

“What now?” Hanna asks Larson.

“Someone is asking about the will. I do not know how they found out, but if they get a copy of that will, we are all doomed,” Larson says.

“Who is it? Rose? How did she find out about the will and the life insurance?” Hanna asks. She is also panicked now.

“It is not Rose. It is someone with a lot of influence in the states. It is Rose’s husband, Enzo Hudson,” Larson says, and he looks like he is about to cry. He knows he will lose the last things he has, and it is all thanks to Hanna and her sister. Larson is angry, and he starts screaming at Hanna.

“We are going to lose our house and the business. Martin Carlson is about to lose his law practice, and he is blaming me! Although he took twenty percent of the money! We are in big trouble, and that is all because you let those two sisters of yours get away from us. We should have kept them under our thumb for the rest of our life!” Larson shouts.

“You can not blame me! I told you we should have taken Tammy under our care! If we did that, Rose would have never left!” Hanna shouts back. What are they going to do? If Rose finds out and her husband tells her, she will sue them and the law firm for everything they have. They stole her money and was about to steal Tammy’s money.

“We can go to jail! With our attorney!” Larson shouts.

While Hanna and her husband are panicking, Enzo looks at the copy of the will he got from one of the clerks in the attorney’s office. He is furious. He remembers the late nights Rose had to work and the small room she and Tammy stayed in. They had the money to pay for a better place and to pay for Rose’s studies, but her sister and brother-in-law, with their crooked attorney, stole the money from Rose. He is sitting in his office with his attorneys sitting in front of them. He knows he can not say or do anything without Rose, and he knows she has a soft heart. So he calls Jennie and tells her everything.

“I will be there in five minutes with Rose. I will help her understand what her sister and brother-in-law did to her and Tammy. Please leave it to me. Rose will be coming there spitting fire,” Jennie says.

“Thank you,” Enzo says. He and Rose have decided to wait until the school holidays to go on their honeymoon as they do not want to leave little Tammy all alone at home and let her think they are leaving her behind. She is still very clingy and afraid they will leave her alone in life. He is glad he called Jennie as he knows she might seem too soft sometimes, but Dante told him how she took a big man down.

Jennie walks to Rose’s office and tells her to come with her. She tells Rose everything on the way to Enzo’s office, and Rose is in shock. She knew her sister and husband were evil people, but she never expected them to go this low. Jennie looks at Rose, and she can see Rose is distraught. All the years, she and Tammy lived like beggars. Her sister was using her money to live like a queen. What kind of person is Hanna?

“You can not leave it here. They wanted Tammy to steal her money! You need to fight, get your money back, and protect Tammy from them. You can use the money in the future to send Tammy to a good university, and you can by no means let Hanna and Larson get away with it! If they lose everything, it is their fault, and you can not let them step all over you and tammy anymore!” Jennie says.

“You are right, Jennie. I am going to fight them all the way! I am furious! Tammy and I lived like beggars in their house, and they treated us like we were nothing but dogs! But, I am not leaving this here!” Rose says with determination. Rose and Jennie walk into Enzo’s office. Rose walks over to Enzo and k****s him. She takes the copy of the will out of his hand. She never knew her parents had life insurance and that they trusted Hanna, Larson and their attorney with their will.

“I want them to pay every cent back, and I do not care if we have to sell everything they own. I want to make a case against the law firm, and I do not care if they all end up in jail,” Rose says. She is sick of Hanna. Larson is nothing of her, but her oldest sister should have looked out for her and Tammy.

“Wow, there is my lioness,” Enzo says as he looks at Rose, that looks pissed off. If it were not for Enzo, Rose would not have known about any of this. Especially with the crooked lawyer working with Hanna and Larson.

“Babe, I love you and thank you for digging so deep into Hanna and Larson.,” Rose says.

“I promised to protect you and help you where I can, and I will always do that,” Enzo says.

“You are truly my hero,” Rose teases Enzo, and he smiles. He will make her remember her words tonight.

They discuss their actions with the attorneys, agreeing to take the case. There are many lawsuits and criminal cases they will make against Hanna and Larson and their attorney. Rose and Enzo do not want to back down even when Hanna, Larson and the law firm try to negotiate with them. The case may take years, and Hanna and Larson do not have the money to fight it. Rose and Tammy’s lawyers have claimed all their assets, so they can not sell anything. Hanna and Larson, with their attorney, go to jail until the case comes before the court. Martin Carlson lost his law firm, and he may no longer practise as an attorney.

Rose is happy she did not back down as she knows Hanna and Larson can no longer hurt or try to steal from Tammy. Another law firm took over the will, and they will pay out Tammy’s money the day she turns eighteen and wants to go to university or whatever field she wants to study. One day, Rose will tell Tammy all about what their oldest sister did to them and ensure that Tammy will never contact Hanna or Larson. They are nothing but con artists. She loves her little sister and will never let anyone use her for money.

Tammy begins to settle in, and she loves her new life. She lives with her sister and Enzo, who are like parents to her. She loves going to school playing with Jayda, who treats her like a little sister. One of these days, it is her birthday. Tammy wants a big birthday party as she has never had one before. She wants to invite all her friends from school, and Enzo can not say no to her. Rose can only shake her head as there is no stop to Enzo and Tammy that teams up against her. Enzo is also training Tammy in self-defence, and the trio has now become the foursome in school.

The preparations for the big party begins, and Rose has no choice but to join in. She loves her little sister, and she can not wait to see Tammy’s face when she opens her present. They bought her a tiny battery driven pink Porshe. That was all Enzo’s doing. Jennie and Dante know they will have to buy Jayda one. Jen and Logan have bought Tammy a pony as the other three already has ponies, and they know Tammy also wants one but will never ask. Jen and Logan have accepted Tammy as a grandchild and have accepted little Jack. They love her sunny personality and told her to call them grandma and grandpa. Tammy feels part of the family, and Enzo wants to change her surname to Casella so nobody in the underworld will mess with Tammy again. She is like a daughter to him.

One morning Ros wakes up not feeling well at all. She does not know what is wrong with her as she can not stop vomiting. Enzo is very worried and calls Jennie to tell her Rose is not feeling well and will not come to work.

“What is wrong?” Jennie asks worriedly as she and Rose have grown very close.

“She won’t stop vomiting. It may be a stomach virus, and I will take her to the doctor,” Enzo says.

“Before you do that, get a pregnancy test or three,” Jennie says, smiling.

“A pregnancy test? Why?” Enzo asks. He never had children, and he knows nothing about pregnant women.

“Do as I say, believe me, I have been pregnant, and morning sickness is one of the signs of pregnancy. Don’t you know what happens when a man and a woman sleep together? After that, babies are made,” Jennie teases Enzo.

“Damn, Jennie! Please, do not make me happy for nothing,” Enzo says.

“Do as I say, Enzo Casella!” Jennie says, and Enzo sighs.

“Okay, okay, I will go buy five to make you happy,” Enzo says, and Jennie laughs. They hang up, and Enzo drives to the nearest pharmacy and buy five pregnancy tests. Rose, who also never had a child before and did not know much about pregnancies, looks at Enzo as if he has gone crazy when he hands her the test.

“Don’t look at me as if I am crazy. Jennie said we should do a pregnancy test before we go to the doctor,” Enzo says.

“Okay, besides, the party is Saturday, and I want to feel better before the party, but if Jennie says we have to do the pregnancy tests let’s do it,” Rose says. She is nervous as she takes the test to the bathroom. She wants a baby, but not this soon. Enzo and Rose drink coffee while waiting for the tests. Little Tammy is at school, so they sit in silence as they wait.

At last, they see the two minutes that felt like two hours is past, and as they look at one test after the other, they all show positive. Enzo is so happy he grabs Rose and k****s her. Rose feels his happiness and can not believe she will become a mother. They call Jennie and tell her first.

“Next time Enzo Casella do not fight me on things I know a lot about,” Jennie says, smiling.

“I won’t, and you are the best sister-in-law a man can ask for,” Enzo says. He hangs up and calls the rest of his family. They are all glad for him. Dante and Jennie look at each other. Dante was in Jennie’s office when Enzo called, and he smiled.

“At least he did not beat me to having children first. I would not have heard the last of it,” Dante says, laughing.
