The ballroom was a pitiful sight with how empty it was. The few men who had attended were

Javier's business partners instead of anyone Sophia knew.

The only women in the room besides Sophia and her daughters were the hotel staff and the pianist

they hired! All the rich men’s wives and mistresses who appeared to be on good terms with Sophia

were

nowhere to be found!

Damn it! Damn it to hell!

If the reporters hadn't been present right now, Sophia would have thrown a tantrum right then and

there.

Javier's brows furrowed just the slightest, but besides that, he didn’t show much emotion.

Meanwhile, Betty was shocked. She had known how bad her mother’s relationships in their social

circle

were, but not to this extent!

“Hurry up

up and take those photos! This is going to make the headlines!” a reporter cried, followed by frantic

snapshots of the virtually empty ballroom.

“We can title this “Madam Sophia Beckett's Birthday Bash-Truly Bashed! No Longer the Starlet of

Yesterday!”

“This is hilarious! She was even bragging about how many guests she had invited earlier!”

Sophia was quaking angrily under her dress. She glared at Betty, signaling for her to help kick the

reporters out.

Betty hurriedly went up to the reporters with a courteous smile, saying, “My mother's birthday

celebration is about to begin, so we'll be heading on inside to tend to the guests now. Please have a

safe journey

home, and be sure to get your door gifts outside!”

The bodyguards quickly shoved the reporters outside the hotel.

Some of them scowled and gossiped amongst themselves after getting their door gifts, saying, “To

think we trudged all the way here in the snow just to be kicked out. They clearly don't want to be

caught being

embarrassed!”

“Tending to guests, my ass! More like ghosts!”

Though Sophia's celebration had just begun, it was so quiet and boring that it felt like it was

ending.

Sophia was so angry that not even her makeup could contain the rigid expression on her face

anymore.

The guests present were all Javier's friends, so they ignored her right after giving her their well

wishes, chatting a storm up with Javier instead. Just like that, the supposed star of the night was

kicked to the

side

“Mom! Betty hurried over, her face pale with worry. “Look what I found out! All the quests you

invited to your party tonight are all at KS World Hotel right now! Alyssa’s gotten the better of us

again!”

Sophia had guessed as much earlier, but the feeling was incomparable to actually hearing it as

truth.

“Alyssa Taylor

Taylor... That selfish little demoness again?” She seethed, boiling with fury.

Beside them, Lauren turned to gaze at her sister and mother upon hearing the mention of Alyssa.

eyes were clouded with complex emotions.

"Half of the guests are there for the Taylor family, and the rest are for the Schmidt familly. I heard

most of the Schmidt family’s friends are at Lyla’s birthday party right now, too! They want to kiss

both of those families’ asses while the iron’s hot, after alll” Betty exclaimed.

She added, “I even heard that some of the guests weren't on the Taylor family’s list at first, but for

some reason, they received an invitation from Alyssa yesterday.

"So they decided to attend that celebration at the very last minute! Alyssa was the one behind all

this!”

"When will that bitch stop messing with me? Does she think she can best me just by ruining my

birthday party? Who does she think I am?” Sophia shrieked, her face twisting into ugly hatred.

“Don't call my sister-in-law that! She's not a bitch!” Lauren finally cried angrily.

Sophia glared at her. “Shut the hell up! She's not your sister-in-law!”

"Do you have any idea what you're saying, Lauren?” Betty cried, taking advantage of the situation to

storm.

Her nail pierced Lauren's skin, making Lauren wince and shrink back.
