Chapter 446
Accidental Surrogate for Alpha
Wedding Preparations Ella âElla!â Cora shouts from the closet, her voice a little frantic. âElla, help!
Please!â I turn quickly towards the closet, a biscuit and a cup of coffee in each of my hands and Rafe
strapped to my chest in his little carrier. âWhatâs wrong?â I call as I hurry towards her.
But I see the problem immediately as I come to the door, with Cora wrapped up in yards of fabric and
one of the stylists tugging fervently at the buttons which close the back.
âIt doesnât fit,â Cora says, her face worried.
âWhat?â I say, my eyes going a little wide. âBut we did a fitting two days ago did you -â âI guess I got
bigger,â Cora sighs, looking down at the little baby bump that makes me so happy to see. âI donât know
â it would be a ridiculous thing to consider with a human baby, but with the way these wolves grow? In
leaps and bounds?â She looks back up at me, shaking her head. âIâm sorry Ella what the hell are we
going to do?â âWeâre going to use the back-up dress,â I say, grinning widely and shoving the rest of the
cookie in my mouth while I put my coffee down on a shelf. Then I move for a big white box Iâve kept
secretly in the corner under a pile of other big white boxes.
âOh, thank god,â the stylist murmurs under her breath, making me laugh.
âCan you call the seamstresses?â I say to the second stylist, who nods and steps away to place a call
on her phone. âWe might need some last-minute alterations.â âI canât believe you planned all this, Ella,â
Cora sighs as I take the top off the box and reveal an identical wedding gown, just one size larger.
âHowâ¦how did you even have the foresight to see this coming?â âI had a wolf pregnancy too!â I say,
lifting the dress out and carrying it over. âI remember how unpredictable it is. At least you arenât being
flown over to another country right now in a middle of a war.â âTrueâ Cora says, beginning to strip off the
first wedding dress as I hang up her second and begin to steam it. âThis isâ¦.slightly less stressful than
that. But only barely.â I laugh a little, shaking my head and glancing over my shoulder at her. âSo,â I say,
eager. âAre you excited?â âUm,â Cora says, her voice high and noncommittal I gasp a little and turn
fully to her now. âYouâre not excited for your wedding!?â âElla!â she says, laughing and shaking her head
at me as she steps fully out of the dress and the stylist takes it away. â You know that none of this has
been important to me, and that Roger and I already had the mating ceremony to end all mating
ceremonies. So,â she shrugs, âthis all makes me more anxious than anything.â âAww,â I say, moving to
my sister, the steamer still in my hand. âDonât be anxious, Cora. Itâs going to go beautifully!â Cora sighs
and smiles at me before dipping her head to kiss Rafe on his. He burbles up at her, happily kicking his
legs, making her laugh. âYouâre more comfortable in the limelight than me, sis,â she says with a smile.
âThe way you handled the coronation yesterday- âI was a mess at the coronation! I ran backwards! I
cried!â âIt was perfectly you though,â she says, raising her eyebrows at me with a smile.
âEveryone loved it. I loved it.â âWell,â I say, grinning at her, âyou just be perfectly you! And it will be just
as great.â âIf you say so,â she says with a grin, crossing her arms across her chest. â Actually, do you
have a robe or something I can wear while I wait for the dress to be ready? Iâm chilly.â âHere try this,â I
say, pointing the steamer at her and letting out a little burst of warm steam that makes her jump and
laugh.
âGet away from me, demon,â she says, swatting at me and laughing, making me turn away and get
back to work. But even as I point to the robe hanging up in a corner of the closet and Cora dashes over
to pull it on, I am filled with excitement.
Because this day? I have a feeling itâs going to be a really good one.
Weâre holding the wedding in the great hall, where we had the coronation yesterday, but it has been
satisfyingly transformed. I was a little hesitant about the choice because I didnât want everything to look
the same, and like we couldnât make something special for Cora and Roger, butâ¦well, itâs the biggest
space weâve got, and there are crowds of people already waiting outside of the palace in addition to the
hundreds weâve invited to attend as guests.
âWow,â I say, turning around in the empty hall with Sinclair at my side, Rafe in my arms in a chic little
tuxedo with a white jacket. To my chagrin, he wouldnât consent to wear his little crown today â kept
taking it off his head â butâ¦well, I suppose thatâs all right. âItâs incredible, Dominic â itâs beyond what I
imagined it could be -â âHow is that possible,â he laughs, looking around, âwhen you planned it all?â
Sinclair is dressed to match Rafe, a little surprise I planned that makes him laugh. But theyâre already
such twins anyway, I think that itâs adorable. Not wanting to show up the bride, I opted for a very pale
green that looks pretty with my hair. We decided not to wear our crowns today, wanting to be very
much the siblings of the bride and groom instead of King and Queen, but well, we look nice without
them too. I look my family over and am very pleased with the picture we present.
âI donât know how itâs possible,â I say, looking around the room again in awe. âI mean, I told them my
ideas, but this team â they really took it and ran. Itâs amazing!â And Iâm not exaggerating â not at all. I
told the team that I wanted everything to be white â white roses, white satin, white candles â but this?
The entire room looks like a fairytale. And when the sun flows in the windows and brightens the whole
space?
âIt really is incredible,â my mate says, wrapping an arm around my waist and pulling me close to his
side. âYou did beautifully, trouble.â âI didnât do it, the aids did!â I laugh, but I turn my face up for a kiss,
accepting the compliment. Sinclair bends a little, kissing me lightly, before turning towards the aid who
bustle up the aisle.
âAre we ready, sir?â she asks, looking up from the ipad settled in the crook of her arm. âTo begin letting
the guests in?â Sinclair looks at me and raises his eyebrows. I nod eagerly and smile at the aid.
âI think so. Letâs get this started!â The aid grins at me and eagerly rushes off as Sinclair and I head to
the front of the room, where we intend to greet as many guests as we can as they come in.
Of course, we wonât be able to say hello to them all â far too many â but I intend to do my best.
âReady, little prince?â I ask, smiling down at my baby, who looks up at me and gives a happy little
squeal, passing excitement down the bond and making me laugh.
âWeâre lucky he likes crowds and attention,â Sinclair murmurs as the aids move to the doors, starting to
pull them open. âIf he was a shy prince, heâd have a much harder time.â âHe knows how much we love
him, and how much everyone else does too!â I say, unable to help squeezing my little baby and
covering his little head with kisses. âHow could they help it? Heâs such a cutie.â âJust like his mama,â
Sinclair murmurs, dropping a kiss to my own head that makes me smile up at him.
But before we have time to say anything else? The doors are open, and the crowds start to fill the
room.
âWelcome!â I call, stepping forward to greet Coraâs first guest.
