Chapter 1829

CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery

As soon as the man's attention shifted, Karina acted without hesitation. She lifted her leg and delivered a sharp kick straight to his groin. The man immediately let go, doubling over in pain.

Karina didn't waste a second. She bolted for the door, grabbing anything within reach a patient file, a water glass-and hurling them at him as she ran, not even pausing to aim. His curses and shouts echoed behind her as she escaped. Just as she darted out the door, she collided with what felt like a wall of solid muscle.

Before she could react, large hands gripped her shoulders, holding her firmly in place.

Karina didn't look up. In her panic, she assumed it was one of the man's accomplices. Terrified, she yelled, "No! Get away from me!"

She tried to repeat her earlier tactic, but this time her attempt was blocked.

Her heart sank in despair-until a familiar voice came from above her. "Why are you so shaken up? Did someone hurt you?"

Karina froze, then looked up and saw Wilfred. Without thinking, she threw herself into his arms, tears streaming down her face.

Wilfred's expression darkened further as he gently patted her back to comfort her. His broad shoulders radiated a sense of safety, helping her gradually calm down in his embrace.

Just as she was about to explain what had happened, the man she had kicked earlier stormed out of the office, roaring with rage. "You bitch! I'll kill you!"

A flash of light caught Karina's eye-it was a weapon.

Gasps erupted from the onlookers as they realized the man was holding a knife.

Before Karina could process what was happening, her view suddenly shifted. Wilfred had spun around, shielding her with his body.

She barely had time to react before the glinting blade came hurtling toward them.

"Watch out!" she cried.

But the scene she feared never unfolded.

With swift precision, Wilfred kicked the man's legs out from under him, disarming him with ease.

The man flailed, but Wilfred pinned him down with one hand on the back of his neck, his grip unyielding. His voice dropped to an icy grow, meant only for the man to hear "Move again, and I'll make sure you regret it."

The cold menace in Wilfred's tone left the man frozen in fear, his entire body going stiff.

Even Karina was momentarily stunned.

This wasn't the Wilfred she knew-the man who was calm, detached but quietly caring. What she saw now was someone radiating a chilling, almost primal rage.

For the first time, she truly felt the weight of his presence-so powerful, so full of intent it left her shaken.

"How could a doctor, someone dedicated to saving lives, carry such an air of lethal precision?" she wondered.

Karina stepped forward and tugged lightly on Wilfred's sleeve.

When he turned to look at her, his gaze was predatory, like a beast locked onto its prey-cold, sharp, and utterly devoid of emotion.

Her heart pounded wildly, more than

it had during the attack. For a

fleeting moment, she felt an

overwhelming fear, as if letting him go would mean losing him forever.

"Wilfred!" she called out, gripping his sleeve tightly.

The tension in his eyes softened almost instantly, as if her voice had snapped him out of it. His usual calm warmth returned, and he didn't pull away.

Handing the man over to the arriving

security guards, he gave a curt

order. "Take him to the police station. Attempted murder and destruction of hospital property."

Technically, only Karina's office had been affected, but Wilfred wasn't about to let that slide.

As the man was escorted out, further investigation revealed his identity.

He was the father of the young girl Karina had been helping.

Disgust filled her as she processed the truth.

"You did that to your own daughter, and you still have the nerve to show up here causing trouble?" she snapped. "You deserve to rot in jail!"
