Chapter 186
Hiding the Twins from Their Billionaire Father
S21 16. Mysterious Pills
âNora, whatâs on the dessert menu tonight?â Louis asked as the servants cleared the table from empty plates.
âFruit pudding, Young Master.â
Once again, Louis and Emilyâs eyes lit up.
âI like fruit pudding.â
âYeah, me too. It was delicious.â
Barbara snorted at the comment. She thought the twinsâ tastes were
too low. However, when she was about to speak, her stomach suddenly twisted.
âOuch!â
Everyone raised their eyebrows. Their gazes fell on Barbara.
âWhat is it, Dear?â Melanie asked.
Barbara held her stomach. Her eyes flickered under the furrowed
brows. âSomething wrong with my stomach.â
Melanieâs back straightened. âYou must be sick?â
Suddenly, Barbara got up from the chair. âMom, just continue eating. I have to go to the restroom:â
While Barbara ran, Melanie was stunned. A bad feeling started to creep into her heart. She was no longer aware that Louis and Emily were biting their lips, struggling to hold back their laughs.
âWhatâs wrong, Mom?â Frank raised an eyebrow. âWhy are you so panicked? Barbara just has a stomachache. Maybe sheâs not used to spicy food.â

Melanie pursed her mouth. Grabbing the spoon, she controlled herself. âYes. Letâs continue eating.â
While his mother cut the pudding, Frank smiled crookedly. He looked at the twins with a meaningful look.
âYou know, Kids? A few days ago, Daddy met someone with cancer.â
âCancer? Is it serious?â Emily furrowed her eyebrows in pity.
âNo, heâs in the early stages. He can still be cured with treatment. From that conversation, Daddy was inspired to develop more effective chemotherapy drugs.â
Melanie gasped. Her eyeballs trembled and her mouth stopped
chewing.
âHow effective is it, Daddy? Is the current medicine still less effective?
Louis tilted his head.
Frank raised an eyebrow. âChemotherapy aims to kill cancer cells. But, often, normal cells are also killed. The side effects are serious.
âPoor normal cells,â Emily puffed out her cheeks. âIf healthy people drink it, wouldnât it be dangerous?â
Melanie suddenly cleared her throat. âWeâre at the dinner table. Itâs not good to talk about someoneâs illness.â
âItâs okay, Mom. Weâre not talking about other people. This is
additional knowledge for children.â
Frank leaned forward. His gesture was more enthusiastic. âYes, the side effects can vary. Headache, nausea, vomitingâ¦.â
âLike Auntieâs stomachache?â Louis cut, making Melanie widen her
eyes.
Frank smiled slightly. âThatâs right. Diarrhea is one of them. Thatâs

usually an early effect.â
Melanie swallowed hard. She realized the meaning of her sonâs
glance.
âWhat did you do to Barbara?â Her cold sweat started to pour out.
Suddenly, Frank leaned back in his chair and reached into his trouser pocket. A second later, he took out an empty transparent ball.
âJust like you did to Kara.â
Melanie stood up with burning red eyes. Her shoulders rose and fell with anger. âWhat medicine did you give your sister?â
Frank shook the ball in his hand. Melanie was getting crazier.
âHow dare you give that to your sister? Sheâs still so young. She doesnât even have a child yet.â
Frank smiled wryly. âWhatâs the difference with Kara? How could you sprinkle medicine in her food? Would you have the heart if Louis and Emily didnât have another sibling?â
Kara gasped. Her eyes were fixed on the plate that had changed menus in front of her. âIs that why the spaghetti tasted sour?â
Emily started to pout. âDaddy, did Mommy eat poison? Is Momm danger?â
âWhat about our future little brother? Can we still meet him?â Lou joined in the dramatization.
Frank smiled sweetly. âCalm down, Kids. Daddy has exchanged Mommyâs medicine for vitamins.â
âWhat about Barbara? You gave her the real medicine?â Melanieâs
voice was shrill.
Frank inhaled deeply. âSorry, Mom. Everyone must reap the results of

their actions.â
Melanie sighed in disbelief. Her eyes started to fill with tears. âYouâre too much, Frank. Too much!â
With hasty steps, Melanie left the dining room. Louis and Emily
immediately raised their hands in the air. They shouted silent victory. The adults smiled at their acts.
âWe did it! Our mission was successful!â Emily whispered with a
cheerful face.
âYes, but this isnât over yet. Letâs quickly finish our dinner, Emily! We still have our last mission to go on.â
âYeah!â
Swiftly, Emily spooned the pudding into her mouth. After drinking and cleaning their lips with a napkin, the twins returned to action.
âAuntie!â Louis knocked on Barbaraâs door. âWe came to bring
medicine for you.â
After a while, no one answered. The twins looked at each other.
âAre they angry with us? So they wonât open the door?â Louis whispered.
âBut Auntie is still sick, Louis. She needs this.â Emily showed a gla of ORS in her hand with the movement of her head. âTry knocking again.â
Just as Louis was about to knock, the door opened. Melanie appeared looking unfriendly. âWhat else do you guys want?â
The twins peeked in. Barbara was lying on the bed with a pale face. She was dripping with sweat.
âWe came to bring medicine and ORS for Auntie,â Emily explained in a sweet little voice.

âYes!â Louis poured the contents of a bottle into his palm. Only five pills came out. âIf the symptoms are mild, Auntie only needs to drink three pills. But if the symptoms are severe, drink five.â
âAre you teasing me?â Barbaraâs voice suddenly resonated even though it seemed weak. âGo away! I donât need your help! Youâre the ones who made me suffer like this.â
âBut Auntie is sick. Auntie wonât get better if she doesnât take medicine,â Emily persuaded.
Louis nodded slightly. âAnd if diarrhea is left unchecked, the consequences could be serious! Auntie could lose fluids and die!â
Melanieâs breath suddenly roared. Unexpectedly, she pushed the twins âhands aside. Emily who stood further managed to dodge.
Meanwhile, Louis, the pills in his hand scattered.
âYou think weâre stupid? I wonât let you give poison to my daughter
again!â
Suddenly, Barbara whimpered. While trying to get up, she called Melanie. âMom, my stomach is twisting again!â
Without having time to close the door, Melanie turned towards Barbara. âLetâs go to the toilet.â
âHow many times has she gone to the toilet?â Louis blinked at his
sister.
Emily shrugged. âGrandma, how many times has Auntie gone to the toilet?â
Melanie glared at them. âWhy are you still here? Leave!â
âWe wonât go. Auntie needs our help. She canât even walk alone. She
needs medicine.â
âYes. If it continues, the consequences could be fatal, Grandma.â

Melanie swallowed hard, but her lips were pressed tightly. When Barbara opened the toilet door, she quickly helped her onto the bed. The twins dared to take a step forward.
âAuntie, why donât you go to the hospital? Your face is colorless.â
âShut up!â Barbara shouted accompanied by a groan. Before she had time to lie down, her stomach was churning again.
âMom, I really canât stand it. How long will this pain go away?â
While trying to stay calm, Melanie wiped the sweat from Barbaraâs forehead. âBe patient, Darling. It wonât take long. The side effects are only temporary.â
âDonât take risks, Grandma. Diarrhea should not be underestimated. If it gets worse, blood could come out,â Louis whispered in a tone of
horror..
Barbaraâs face became increasingly creased. âDonât talk carelessly!â
âLouis wasnât lying. I read about it in the newspaper. Someone died of severe diarrhea. It was terrible.â
