Chapter 206
Hiding the Twins from Their Billionaire Father
S21 36. Go Away!
âDaddy?â Barbara sighed spontaneously. âWhy does he come here?â
Melanie grimaced. Roughly, she opened the door. âSend him away! We donât want to see him. Tell him not to bother us anymore!â
One of Philipâs eyebrows rose. He glanced at Barbara. The girl looked
worried.
âSorry, Maâam. We didnât know you didnât want to see him. We invited him in. Your husband is waiting in the living room.â
Melanie gasped. Without further ado, she went to see Paul. Barbara hurried to follow.
âDaddyâ¦.â Tears came out when Barbara saw her father. However, when she was about to approach him, Melanie held her hand.
âStay where you are,â she whispered to Barbara before looking at Paul sharply. âWhat do you want to come here for?â
The man in the suit with the messy tie got up from the sofa. His eyes no longer wandered.
âMelanieâ¦. Barbaraâ¦.â The curve of his lips looked very tired,
especially with thick eye bags and messy hair. âHow are you guys? Are you comfortable living here?â
Melanie snorted. âOf course. This house is much bigger than the house you offered me.â
Paul pursed his lips and looked down. Bringing his hands together in
front of his stomach, he shifted towards Melanie.
âListen,â he sighed softly, âI know itâs not the time yet. But my company canât wait any longer. I need the money now.â

Melanie startled. Her eyes darted around. Knowing that the situation was safe, she quickly grabbed Paulâs shirt. âDonât talk here.â
Barbara was stunned to see her mother pulling her father up the stairs. Without waiting for orders, she followed. However, right in front of Melanieâs bedroom door, she was stopped.
âMy Dear, wait outside.â
âButâ¦.â
âNo but.â
In an instant, the door in front of her closed tightly. Barbara put her ear to it. Unfortunately, no sound was captured.
âMy wife,â Paul whispered as he touched Melanieâs shoulder. The worry on his face had been replaced by a smile. âI really miss you.â
Before Melanie had time to answer, Paul had pulled her into a hug.
âI really canât wait for another month to pass. I want to see you and Barbara at home again. I feel lonely without you two.â
Instead of being touched, Melanie rolled her eyes. Clenching her ja she pushed Paul away.
âAre you crazy? Did you forget I told you not to show up around us?
Seeing his wifeâs anger, Paul fell silent. His face became gloomy again.
âSorry. I know this could threaten your mission, but itâs urgent. The company wonât survive much longer without injections. We canât wait any longer, Darling.â
âYou think the conditions stated in the secret will are a joke?â Melanie raised an eyebrow. With a small snort, she leaned closer to her husbandâs ear.

âThe gold will not reach me until Barbara and I have settled here for a
full month.â
âYes, I understand. But your son is super rich. Can you ask him for help?â Paul frowned, expecting pity.
Melanie pursed her mouth tightly. Her round eyes radiated firmness.â I canât. That would jeopardize my mission. You think your debt is small?â
Paul scratched his head, thinking. âCome on, Darling. Your son is generous. He certainly wouldnât mind helping his stepfather.â
âNo way.â Melanie widened her eyes. Her finger pointed downward as if to emphasize her sentence. âDonât make me repeat myself.â
Paul let out a faint sigh. After a short silence, he snapped his fingers.
âBarbara just got a gift from him, right? How about we sell it? That orange diamond is very expensive. The money can be used to buy time until we find the right investor.â
Melanie snorted in disbelief. While folding her arms in front of her
chest, she smiled dismissively.
âYou forgot what you promised when you proposed to me? You said. you would fulfill all my needs and desires. Now, why are you giving me trouble?â
Paul gasped. His eyebrows lowered, as did his tone. âWhat do you
mean?â
âBarbara and I really liked that diamond. Besides being expensive, it was rare. And it was the first gift Frank ever gave me. I will never sell
it.â
Paulâs hands began to clench into fists. His face darkened. âYou donât want to help me?â

âThatâs not helping, but sacrificing. You should fight harder so you
donât become a burden on the family.â
âBut you are my wife. Whatâs wrong with making a little sacrifice? Besides, my company also suffered losses because of you.â
Paul was starting to have difficulty keeping his voice from rising. His eyes flashed red. However, Melanie didnât care. She shrugged one
shoulder and sneered.
âSorry, I donât want to live in trouble. If you can no longer support me, letâs divorce. What kind of husband never gives his wife money for
more than three months?â
Paulâs breathe roared. His shoulders started to rise and fall. âAll this
time, I have always fulfilled your wishes. Even if I have to take company money, I am willing because I really love you.â
Melanieâs lips pursed, expressing both pity and contempt. âItâs a shame your efforts are not enough, and Iâm sorry about your company. But what can I do?â
Melanie patted Paulâs shoulder. âYou are no longer worthy of me. Thank you for our time together. I will always remember it.â
Unable to contain his annoyance any longer, Paul slapped Melanieâs hand away. âDonât test my patience. You think marriage is a joke? Act your age!â
âIâm not kidding. You are not a husband I can rely on anymore. Why should I continue a detrimental marriage like this? Life is for fun and happiness.â
The corners of Paulâs lips twitched. Faintly, his laughter escaped and sounded cynical.
âYou really want to separate from me? Donât you regret it?â

Melanie sneered. âWhy would I regret? Iâm with my son now. Heâs much more reliable than you.â
âYou think he wants to take in a parasite like you? No matter how rich he is, if he keeps supporting a greedy woman like you, his company will also go bankrupt. He must have learned from my experience.â
Paul raised an eyebrow. His voice was intimidating. âYes, maybe now he is still patient with you. But Iâm sure he wonât be as patient as I am. There will come a time when he wonât want to give you his money anymore, or maybe even a place to live.â
While Melanie gritted her teeth, Paul chuckled.
âSo, what? Are you ready to live on your own? Without a husband or children who are willing to take care of you?â
Melanie smiled lightly. Even though her head was tilted, her gaze was still on Paul. âYou think you can threaten me? Iâm not scared. Frankâs a good son. He wouldnât ignore me.â
âIs it true?â Paul nodded and stepped back. His hands were slightly stretched. âWell then, letâs get a divorce. Letâs see how long you c survive, especially after Frank finds out your secret.â
The curve of Melanieâs lips suddenly froze. Her lungs stopped as something stuck in her throat.
