Chapter 210
Hiding the Twins from Their Billionaire Father
S21 40. Comfort Barbara
Paul started to growl. His head shook firmly. âYou canât separate me from Barbara. Sheâs my daughter!â
âShe is also my daughter, and the sister of the richest businessman in the world. You think she will choose you? You even had the intention of stealing her favorite diamond.â
âYouâ¦!â
Melanie quickly raised her hand. âEnough. Thereâs no point in us arguing. It will only prove that we are no longer compatible. Now go!â
Melanie glanced at the fence in the distance.
âTake care of your company. If you can make it number one company, maybe I can consider coming back to you.â
Paulâs fists began to shake. His shoulders shook violently.
âYouâll regret throwing me away. You wonât be able to be happy, Greedy Woman. And Barbara wonât be able to stand following you.â
Melanie shrugged her shoulders lightly. âWe will see later.â
After snorting, Paul got into the car. His determination was firm. He would take Barbara and ruin Melanieâs life after their divorce.
As Paul left, Melanie picked up her phone and called someone. Her expression looked terrible.
âPaul said he knows my secret. Find out where he keeps the evidence.
Get rid of it!â
Hearing no more sound, Barbara thought her mother would come in soon. She hurried away from the door. However, she realized that she would not have time to escape. The room was too large to run away.

As her head spun around looking for a place to hide, someone grabbed her wrist from behind.
âShh!â Philip put his index finger to his lips. âFollow me.â
Having no other choice, Barbara followed Philip behind a pillar. When they arrived there, Melanieâs footsteps were heard. Barbara suddenly held her breath. She resigned herself when Philip turned her shoulders around the pillar, avoiding Melanieâs point of view.
Only when the sound of tapping heels disappeared did Barbara continue to breathe. But her tears could no longer be stopped.
âAre you okay?â
Barbara looked up. Her nose flared and deflated to suppress the turmoil in her chest. âDid you hear everything?â
Philip shook his head. âNo, but I can guess. Your parents want to separate?â
Suddenly, Barbara burst into tears. Her head bowed and her hands. clenched into fists.
âYouâre happy, hmm? Youâre happy you can laugh at me? My family is destroyed. Iâve received punishment for my crimes.â
Philip was pensive. After a moment of silence, he whispered, âItâs not your fault. None of this happened because of your crimes. You had no influence whatsoever on your parentsâ relationship.â
Barbaraâs breath hitched. While biting her lip, she looked up. Finding Philipâs gaze so calm and sincere, her cry subsided. The man seemed to be able to feel the pain she was feeling.
âYou think you can comfort me? Your words are useless. My parents are still divorced. They care more about wealth than my happiness.â
Philip shut his mouth, afraid that his voice would worsen the

situation. The only thing he could do next was hold out a
handkerchief.
Barbara glanced at him for a moment. After grimacing, she walked towards her room. At that moment, Louisâ voice emerged from the hallway she was heading towards.
âAuntie? Where are you? Our gift turned out to be a super delicious chocolate cake. Mommy said we could taste a little before dinner. Letâs try it together!â
Barbara gasped. Her cries automatically disappeared and her steps stopped. When she turned around, Philip handed her his
handkerchief. Like it or not, she dried her face with the soft cloth.
âThatâs Auntie!â Emilyâs voice sounded cheerful.
Without warning, the twins raced to get to Barbara.
âWoohoo! I got her first!â Louis touched Barbaraâs leg then raised hist hand, proud.
âYeah, yeah. Youâre always faster. Congratulations!â Emily said with pursed lips. A second later, she smiled sweetly and looked up. âWhy are you here, Auntie? No wonder you didnât open the door. Oh? Why are your eyes red? Your nose too.â
Barbara spontaneously looked away. Philip quickly interjected, âShe got something in her eye. Maybe a small bug. Sheâs having trouble getting it out.â
âReally? You naughty insect! Come here, Auntie. Let me help you.â Louis-waved his hand.
Barbara glanced at Philip secretly. She didnât expect the man to help. â Itâs okay. The bug has come out. Itâs just that my eyes still sting.â
âWell then,â Emily took Barbaraâs fingers, âletâs go to my room. There are eye drops in the cabinet.â

âThereâs one in my room too! Letâs just go to my room. Itâs closer.â
Getting the twinsâ concern and sincerity, Barbara let out a bitter laugh. While Philip was stunned, the toddlers blinked at her.
âAuntie, why are you laughing?â
âIs there something funny?â
Barbara shook her head faintly. âI also have eye drops. Letâs get it in my room. After that, letâs eat together.â
She reached out her hand to Louis. The little boy happily grabbed it.
âI wonder what bug hit Auntie. Doesnât it have eyes?â Louis said as he
walked beside Barbara.
âNext time if Auntie wants to go out, just wear glasses. Itâs safer. We often wear them,â Emily suggested, framing her eye with one hand.
Seeing the closeness of the three people, Philip smiled slightly. As soon as their backs disappeared, he looked down, staring at the handkerchief that Barbara had hurriedly returned.
âIt turns out she wasnât as bad as I thought. She just has wounds and is confused about how to deal with her problems.â
After a long breath, Philip rushed to the kitchen. His stomach had to be filled before the Harper family gathered.
When dinner time arrived, the twins still chatted with Barbara. Their closeness spread warmth. Even Melanie occasionally laughed along.
âSo, Barbaraâs followers have gone up again?â Melanie asked,
repeating information that was actually already stale. Nevertheless, Emily responded enthusiastically.
âYes! Iâm sure, in a few days, Auntieâs followers will return to what they were before, or even more.â She stretched her arms above her

head, making a large circle.
âBut in my opinion, you need to update something unique, Auntie. If you promote fashion items every day, the audience might get bored,â Louis said, not caring that his mouth was covered in chocolate.
Emily pursed her lips. âJust say that you also need Auntieâs help. You want Auntie to promote your apartment, right?â
Louis suddenly became sad. âActually no. The apartment promotion on Auntieâs account is not effective. What if we make a game or hold a broadcast during a picnic? That would be much more fun.â
Unexpectedly, Melanie chuckled. âThatâs a very good idea. Go have fun. You should get to know each other better. Barbara is your aunt.â
âYeah!â The twins nodded enthusiastically.
However, Barbara remained silent. Not because she didnât like Louisâ idea, but because she was disappointed with Melanie. How could her mother have such evil intentions? In fact, the toddlers sincerely loved
her.
After dinner, the twins invited Barbara to play together. However, she refused. She said she was tired and wanted to rest. But actually, Barbara wanted to be alone on the back yard.
