Sophia took Diana’s hand, holding it tightly. “Don’t say that, Grandma.”

Suddenly, Diana looked up. Her gaze was floating in the air.

“That jerk gave me gold to prove his victory. He wanted to show how successful his life was without me beside him. He wanted me to see how happy and harmonious his family was.”

Diana choked. Her anger overflowed.

“He must have hoped that I would accept the gold. He thought I would admit my defeat-admit everything he said. But no! I wouldn’t accept anything from him. I never regretted leaving his side. My life’s much happier without him and his wealth.”

“Grandma,” Sophia rubbed the wrinkled hand she was still holding, I’m sorry. I really didn’t know you were there. If I had known, I wouldn’t

have asked the twins that.”

“It’s not your fault, Sophie. God must deliberately show me the truth so I can open my eyes. Those people are not worthy to set foot here.”

Suddenly, Diana moved from her position. Afraid that the old woman. would cause a commotion, Sophia quickly held her.

“Wait, Grandma. Please don’t be careless.”

“Don’t get in my way, Sophie. Let go!”

Sophia shook her head with a look of pity. “You’re too emotional. It would be best for you to calm down first. Let’s handle this matter with a cool head, hmm?”

“They should be grateful to you. I didn’t chase them away because of you.”

Sophia breathed a sigh of relief. Widening her smile, she shook Diana’s hand. “Thank you, Grandma. Thank you.”

“For your sake, I’ll let go of their mistakes. But next time, there won’t be another chance. If they mess with me or with you, don’t stop met from chasing them away.”

“Okay, Grandma. Once again, thank you.”

Without replying, Diana stood up. Sophia was no longer in her way. She knew the old woman was much calmer.

“Come on, Grandma. Let me take you to your room.”

She wanted to guide Diana. However, Diana raised one hand.

“No, I need some time alone. Please give me a few minutes.”

Sophia nodded. While remaining still, she watched Diana move away. The smile on her face seemed more cunning than graceful.

“Good. Let’s just wait for the right time for the bomb to explode.

When it happens, you won’t be able to deny that I’m the hero.”

The next morning, the atmosphere was much quieter than the previous day. Everyone didn’t talk much. Even, Louis and Emily didn’t seem enthusiastic about speaking their minds.

“Emily, do you feel something strange about this morning?” Louis whispered when he had just sat down at the dining table.

Emily nodded. Her eyes focused on the others one by one. “Maybe Uncle and Auntie are afraid that Grandma will be angry, so they prefer

to keep quiet.”

The twins glanced at Diana. The old woman was tracing the rim of the cup with her index finger. Her face was gloomy, her gaze empty. Unconsciously, the toddlers both shuddered.

“Good morning, Everyone.”

The twins’ eyes widened. They turned their head and immediately smiled to greet Kara.

“Good morning, Mommy. How is your condition this morning? You don’t have a fever anymore, right?” Louis straightened his back and raised his neck.

Kara stroked her son’s head then kissed his round cheek. “Is it still

hot?”

Louis cupped Kara’s cheek and thought. “It seems normal.”

Suddenly, Emily put her hand to Louis’ forehead roughly. The little boy spontaneously blinked.

“Emily! We’re sitting on a high bench. What if I fall?”

Emily chuckled. “But you didn’t fall, right?” Her tone was nosy.

Feeling amused, Kara kissed Emily’s cheek. “Did you sleep well?”

Emily nodded. “I don’t have nightmares anymore. On the contrary-”

She held back her words. Remembering her secret with Louis, she smiled sweetly. “I dreamed that the number of people in our palace was increasing, Mommy. Our kingdom is becoming more harmonious and prosperous.”

Kara curled up her lips. However, realizing Diana’s red eyes, she quickly straightened up.

“That’s a nice dream. Let’s talk about it after breakfast. You guys eat a lot, hmm?”

Kara wanted to approach Abigail and Sophia who were preparing food, but two tiny hands grabbed her.

“Mommy, why don’t you just eat here? It’s cold outside, and you have just recovered. What if your fever comes back again?” The furrow at Emily’s eyebrows touched her heart.

“Yes, eat with us, Mommy. Once in a while, it’s okay for Daddy to eat alone. Or if necessary, let me take Mommy’s place and accompany Daddy to eat outside.” Louis poked his own chest with his thumb.

Kara’s heart warmed. Stroking her children’s hands, she smiled. “You don’t need to worry. I’m fine. Besides, my coat is thick.”

“But Louis and Emily are right,” Frank came in and put his arm around Kara’s waist. “You should stay away from the cold first.”

Kara sighed awkwardly. She knew Diana was still watching her.

“Frank, I don’t want any more fuss. So, please don’t persuade me to eat here. How about we just eat in the living room?”

Kara had tried to speak as quietly as possible. However, her whispers still bothered Diana. .

“Can’t you two calm down? All I want is having breakfast in peace.”

Everyone froze. No one dared to move. After a few blinks, Kara

touched Frank’s arm.

“Let’s just eat in the living room,” she decided.

Frank nodded. “You go there first. Let me get breakfast today.”

Kara shook her head. Her eyebrows furrowed. “I’m already healthy, Frank. You don’t need to pamper me. Let me do it.”

Suddenly, Diana hit the table. Her red eyes started to water. “If your want to put on a show, do it somewhere else. Not here.”

Everyone fell silent again. But this time, Frank looked at Diana cynically. “What’s really bothering you, Grandma? Kara and I didn’t do anything. We didn’t even talk loudly.”

Diana snorted. “There’s no point in me talking with these people.”

The old woman stood up and left. Everyone was stunned to see her, including Louis and Emily.

“Why is Grandma angry again?”

“Does Grandma really not like us being here?”

Philip let out a faint sigh. As he got up from the chair, he whispered, ” Let me try talking to her.”

Barbara held Philip’s arm. “Grandma’s not in a good mood, Phil. I don’t think this is a good time.”

“If we wait for the right time, I think the opportunity will never come. This must be straightened out immediately.” Philip patted Barbara’s hand and then smiled widely. “Just wish me luck.”

After that, Philip left confidently. He didn’t know that from the next room, Sophia smiled faintly.
